My nervousness hit me like a rock as we pulled up in the drive way. I haven't seen my cousin Max in years, I wouldn't know the first thing to say considering she's a freshman and I'm a senior. Also the fact that her step-brother passed and her step-dad left. I got out of the car and followed my mom to the front porch, I stand behind her to avoid eye contact with whoever opens the door. Even though I'm on the verge of adulthood I still act like a child. Mom knocked on the door and my auntie opened it. She looked exhausted, like she just woke up for the first time in days.

"Oh Susan! Sit back down and I'll make you some tea," my mom said. She has always been a kind soul to everyone, even her alcoholic sister. As she goes through the cupboards for some mugs she says, "Y/N why don't you find Max and catch up while i take care of your aunt." I nodded and headed for the little hallway. I peak into a room and see an empty bed with new sheets on it. I go in and set my things down. I try to switch the lamp on but have no luck. "The lamp isn't plugged in," I turn around to see my red headed cousin at the door.

"Here," she walks to the outlet and plugs it in. "Thanks, I'm extremely stupid," I let out a small chuckle to break the awkwardness. "Don't worry, I'm the same way sometimes. So uh, you get to stay in this room and your mom will be in staying in my mom's room so she can take care of her or whatever." I nodded, "What's that door," I pointed at the strange door on the left side of the room, "Oh yeah that's a bathroom, it connects our rooms." She opened the door to reveal a small bathroom with two sinks, a shower with a built in tub, and a toilet in the corner. "Feel free to put your stuff on your side," she walked over and opened the door to her room and entered with closing the door behind her.

Well that wasn't too bad.

I started laying my things out on my bed and spread them around my new room. I put up my favorite band posters, those being The Ramones, Queen and The Sex Pistols. When I was satisfied with the placement I started putting my clothes in the closet. I headed for the bathroom and put my necessities on my side like Max said. I look up to see my self in the mirror, damn it wore of. I went back into my room and dug through my bag. I took out a small first aid kit and opened it to reveal a single joint, lighter, rolling paper, perfume and a small, half used bottle of eyedrops. Here goes my last hometown joint, I poke my head out my room and let mom know that I'm going to bed, not really.

I closed the door, grabbed my kit and turned to look at the window. I open it slowly and climb out. I close the window enough for my fingers to be able to have a gap to open it when I come back. I start walking away but I stop when I feel eyes on me. Looking around I spot a frizzy haired boy looking directly at me. He gave me a small smile and a wave, I sent back a small wave and started speed walking away as fast as I could. Why am I like this. I saw a small park in the distance, a perfect spot to smoke.

As I arrived I decided to sit under the slide. I opened the kit to grab the joint and lighter. I brought the joint to my lips and turned on the lighter. Not even a second later the flame was blown out, what the... . "Hey there," I quickly took the out joint and looked to where I heard the low voice from. It was the same guy from the window.
