"Shit I'm so nervous" I clung onto Christian "You'll be fine" he rubbed his hand on my back "Sure I will" I rolled my eyes at him
"Do you want to go inside together or alone? there are a lot of cameras" He said, I chewed on my lip, I've never been this nervous before
"I'll go in alone," I said "I'll be sitting on the right, another designer will be sitting next to me while you and the other four young designers will be sitting across from me," He said "Okay, go inside before people start to come in," I said "I'm so excited to see someone wearing your piece" He cupped my face and kissed my lips
"I'm excited, mostly nervous but this is a one-time thing so I must cherish it," I said, he kissed me one last time before walking inside
I walked in afterward
"First and last name?" The lady at the table asked "Mila Brown" I said "Oh wonderful! here's your tag, you will report backstage to chat with your model, adjust anything then you will make your way to your assigned seat" She handed me a name tag and I headed inside
There were chairs lined up in rows and two walkways. I spotted Christian talking to a guy dressed in a very colorful suit.
"Mila, this way"
I walked backstage "This is your model, Luna, quickly adjust what you can, the show is starting in 7 minutes"
The staff quickly ran out from backstage "You're Mila? This dress is amazing" Luna said "Thank you, are there any issues with how it fits or looks?" I asked
"No issues, I've been a model for 7 years, and this is probably the second time I've worn a dress that fits me just perfectly," She said "I'm honored to know that I am able to meet your standards," I said
"We're starting! Ms. Brown your seat is right over there" The staff pointed to my seat "Thank you" I said
"Good luck Luna" I walked over to my seat, my heart pounded with every clack of my heels
I had a perfect view of Christian and the walkway
"Good evening designers and guests, first we would like to thank Director Kim for putting all of this together and making this happen, thank you to all of the sponsors and donations. Dior, Prada, Fenty, and Lloyd are all being displayed today as well as young inspired Designers" A man stood on the stage
"Today we have Mila Brown, Hunter Court, Cole Main, Stephen Young, and Lola Griffin, their designs will be modeled today, interviews and pictures will be all done after the pieces are displayed, with that being said please power off all phones and enjoy the show"
People began to clap
Christian gave me a thumbs up as reassurance, my heart was pounding, my work is going to be shown today in front of all these huge designers
I spotted Luna, her walk was flawless, my dress flowed on her and the light perfectly showcased every detail of color
Christian was right, I could've done a much better job than what I've done, I must've been rushing. Seeing my work being modeled with other inspiring designers and professionals is a dream come true
I don't want to let this opportunity go, my original idea was to not have my piece up for sale because it was just an assignment but whatever gets me closer to my dream
The show was over within an hour, I was so into the show that I didn't notice that Christian himself had gotten onto the stage
"Good afternoon everyone I'm Christian Chavez also the founder of Lloyd, I hope you all enjoyed the show. I, myself am a teacher and I have submitted one of my students' work for today's show, Ms. Brown would you like to join me up here?" A light shined on me as a walked up the stage
"Ms. Brown has beautifully captured the art of abstract and made it into a piece of clothing. As a teacher, I can genuinely say I am proud of her but as a designer, I would love to have something like this hanging in my stores" Christian finished his speech and turned to me
"You look gorgeous" He mouthed and got off the stage and I followed behind
"Interviews and pictures will now be allowed, thank you all for coming"
The first person I was looking for was Luna, she did such an amazing job plus she was the first person to ever model my dress, professionally
"I should've bought you some flowers or something, you were amazing," I said "Thank you, you will go great places Mila" She hugged me
"Luna! you did such an amazing job, I'm so proud of you" A man comes up to her with flowers, she hugged him and accepted the flowers
"August this is Mila, Mila this is my brother, August" Luna introduced "You're the person who made my sister's dress, it is a pleasure to meet you Ms. Mila" He kissed my hand, I nervously chuckled and looked around for Christian, making sure he didn't see
"It's a pleasure to meet you as well" I slid my hand out of his "Mila Brown could I take 5 minutes of your time?" A man asked. I nodded and walked with him
"I really enjoyed seeing your piece," He said "Thank you, I rushed through it so it isn't the best but I swear I'm much better than what I have created," I said, "I've lived for 73 years and I've owned many businesses and seen multiple different clothing, do you know who I am?" He asked "Bernard Arnault, of course I know who you are, you own LVMH," I said
"Knowledge is key, I am also in charge of Dior, give me a price I'll make it happen," He said "Pardon?" My eyes widened "I want your piece" He said
"I don't have a price," I said "1 million" I could feel Christian behind me
"1 million?!" I turned to him "You have to start off small, Mila" Christian whispered "600k" Bernard Arnault said
One million dollars is starting small?
"1.5 million, the more you go lower the higher I go," He said "1 million," Bernard said "1.5," Christian said
"Quite the tough bidder you are, Mila darling, what do you want" Bernard turned to me
I looked at Christian for help "Go high" He mouthed
"I-I think I'll settle for something lower," I said, Christian sighed "Your company won't build itself". Christian was right, I need this money and my father definitely wasn't going to pay for it. This was my opportunity.
"2 million" Bernard, breathed heavily then smiled "2 million, Axel! bring me my cheque book" He held his hand out and a boy came with his cheque book. He wrote on one of the papers and then handed it to me
"Love doing business with you," He shook my hand and left
"I just got myself 2 million dollars," I said "Your name and piece will be all over the globe, this is where you start," Christian said
I motioned him to come closer so I could whisper in his ear "I want to kiss you so bad but we're in front of a lot of cameras" I said
"Even if there weren't any cameras I wouldn't give you a kiss, you've been bad," He said "I've been bad? how?" I asked "You let another man place his lips on your hands," He said
My eyes widened "You saw that?!"
"My eyes are always on you, Mila" He backed up and he had this dangerous look in his eyes "just wait till we get home" he said then walked away
