It had been the time when I was still in the underground city. I had gone to the market where I worked. It was a small restaurant, it was exceptionally clean with not a singe speck of dust. Though small, the food was great enough to attract tourists and also the people who lived there. I didn't cook though. I wasn't the best at cooking so it was only my boss's daughter Han working in the kitchen and I was outside. Han was also my closest friend.

"Violet! Can you please take this to the man in the back left corner?" I nodded and grabbed the plates of potato soup from Han's hand. There were about 3 on each late and only one person sat on that table.

"Han you really need to put numbers on tables...the last we gave the wrong food to the wrong person...and they had an allergic reaction. Are you sure it's that table?" I queried. She nodded and just to confirm she thought again.

"It's definitely that table and I know. I know but I just don't have time to make it." She complained. I knew she meant for me to stay back and help but I couldn't. I needed to get the groceries today.

"I'm sorry, I can't stay back today. I have a lot to do at home." I said and left with the food. As I got closer to the table, I smelt an horrible stench from the man's direction. I knew full well what the stench was. It was the smell of a rotten corpse. I gagged but kept the urge to vomit in.

"Good morning sir. Here's your potato soup. Enjoy your meal." I said forcing a smile. He was hooded so I couldn't see his face properly but I knew he was not to mess with. I left the food on the table and walked to a different table with 8 people sitting there. 2 blonde men, both of them looked strong and tall. They both seemed to be around my age. There was a younger girl, she looked cheerful and she was clearly the epitome of cheerfulness. There was an older brunette, man with a couple more people. The older man seemed to be respected by the tone they spoke to him. I'd finally felt better, being away from that man. It wasn't that I was scared. I was just disgusted and didn't want to get into a fight.

"Hello, how are you today?" I smiled at them and most of them reciprocated it but the old man kept his frown.

"We're good." One of the blonde men replied.

"Are you all ready to order yet? If not you can call me out later." I told them.

"Oh, is it okay if we order later? We still haven't figured what to eat yet." The other blonde man asked.

"Sure. That's no problem at all. If you need you can always ask one of the staff...Oh right, there's the menu on the wall." I informed them motioning towards the chalk board behind them.

"Ah yes.Thank you." I nodded and smiled before I heard Han call me over.

"I'll leave you at that." I said and left.

"Hey Violet, where are the potato soup with chillies?" Han asked while looking around the kitchen.

"I don't know. Just make it again, if you need help, I can give you a hand." I told her.

"No thanks. You can't cook." She put down my offer without a second's thought.

"Hey...I can chop the vegetables though. I'm skilled with the knife." I pouted at her blunt comment.

"Okay, okay. Just cut the potatoes. You know how to cut it right?" She asked me. I laughed and started peeling a few potatoes.

"How many do you want me to chop?" I asked while carefully peeling the skin, making sure not the tiniest bit of skin was left.
