When we arrive back to the Krypt, I thought my Lycan-captor would take me straight to his bed to be either deflowered or devoured. But it's not like that. Lyrian takes me to yet another game.
I stare in awe at an image of what's to come. It involves a whole floor of the floating skyscraper. A concrete maze. Lyrian places my naked body down by the door, his hot breath heaving out and warming up my bare skin down from my nape. I fight the insane urge to lean back into his gigantic torso.
I focus on the image of the whole maze, named The Trap.
"What is this?" I ask, slightly flustered as to why he would bring me here.
"Next game, this one's for you though... either way you can't lose," Lyrian leans down to my shoulder, next to my ear, "Just remember to run or I'll have to encourage you."
The door opens and he tries to usher me into the maze, but I dig my heels in. I quickly turn around and ask Lyrian, "Did Rose do this too?"
Lyrian is surprised by the question, "Yes," he answers, grinning over me with all his teeth, "...her curious nature is what unwound her resolve... I just need to know; if you really will choose the unknown... over paradise."
Furrowing my brows, completely confused, Lyrian's eyes roll over my naked body and his claws come over my eyes. He turns my head, and the demonic heat ushers me into the maze.
When I'm inside, the door slams shut behind me, separating us. I spin around a few times, flustered about the sudden game.
I asked a question I thought he might answer about Rose, because I was gathering as much information as I could. But I needed to know more.
I face what I think is the entrance to the maze, one long corridor. To my right I read instructions in red neon.
Run toward option one or two.
One. Find the middle, claim the prize.
Two. Find the exit.
I wonder if this is a trick question. What... prize?
Before I move off I look up and around the floor's high ceilings to find my answers spelled out plainly in larger neon red signs, which help provide the sparse red light in the maze.
One sign points to the middle of the room, the arrow downward, labelled 'Prize: Unknown'.
Another sign around at the edges, on the other side of the maze, points down, labelled 'Exit: Eleyrion'.
I immediately hitch my breath.
Eleyrion...
My eyes shift between the two.
Search for the middle, claim the mystery prize, or search for the exit... and... go... home.
As I walk, I see letters carved into the cement.
They spell out words as I walk.
IN. THIS. WORLD. WE. RULE. WE. TAKE.
I find myself at the end of the first corridor, and more inscriptions are etched into the floor.
I turn right and read as I pace forward, one letter at a time.
IF. YOU. DIE. ITS. NOT. OUR. FUCKING. FAULT.
This was a long corridor.
I stop at the end, under a flickering red light and marks across the wall. I think someone tried punching the wall here, clearly after the statement I just read, which didn't send chills through me, but it had certainly chilled others.
