Izuku can already see the airport as the car he's in sped its way to their destination. He craned his neck to the side feeling the fatigue he got from working yesterday.
"Thank you," he said, smiling at the taxi driver. Izuku pushed the door close and took his bag to the entrance door.
Inside is a bustling crowd, people going here and there. One word to describe: busy.
Izuku heaved a sigh as he drags his belongings to where the place his boss' secretary told him to go. There's this uneasy feeling that he's been feeling since earlier in the morning just after he woke up but he chose to shrug it off and continued his morning rituals. He also ran into a stray black cat which was supposed to mean, as the elders say, a sign that there will be a bad thing that may happen, but instead of being put off by the innocent creature, he pets the animal and gave it the sandwich he was eating.
Shrugging the uneasy feeling again, he murmured, "What can go wrong?"
Yep. What can go wrong?
After like an eternity of looking everywhere, he finally saw his boss' secretary. Izuku raised his hand to wave but stopped mid-air when he saw a blonde man right next to the secretary.
He was expecting someone else. Not him!
This was the bad feeling he was feeling earlier. Why is it that when you don't want something to happen, it will end up happening while slapping your face so hard as if saying, "Making you suffer is a good entertainment."
"Took you long enough, sir?" said the secretary which he still doesn't know the name of. Izuku pursed his lips and awkwardly leaned into his ears, afraid that 'he' will notice his discomfort from his presence. "Where's Lemillion?"
"We are sorry for the short notice, Deku but Mr. Bakugo is the one who's joining you." The man stood up straight as if ready to take his leave. Izuku's got alarmed and started to panic. "Sir didn't bother to tell you since he knew that you two were friends back in high school. Is that right?" said 'Ricki-san'. It was in his ID that he was wearing. The man looks so stiff and stern, he seems to really take his job seriously. So serious that he couldn't even notice the panic written all over Izuku's face.
He didn't even bother waiting for Izuku's response as he neatly tucks his properly-ironed white polo shirt. "Lemillion's wife just gave birth so he couldn't come," said the employee in a monotone.
"B-But-"
"If there's anything that I can be of help then please call this whenever," he said then handed his white calling card.
Izuku just blinked and the man has already exited the airport leaving him unable to process any of these events unfolding right before his eyes. 'What the hell?'
His body stiffen and his feet felt like they are glued to the floor. Izuku doesn't know what to do and say, let alone take the initiative to make a 'casual' conversation with the man who's oblivious to his inner turmoil. He couldn't see Bakugo's reactions as his back is facing him but he is already dying to dash off and get the hell out of here.
After that night, Izuku doesn't know if he can still face him. The embarrassment is bitter on his tongue. They were just drunk and maybe, still caught up in the past. Izuku told himself that that night is not something that he should be worrying about. They were done. The least thing he could do is to continue moving on, the past is always there but it doesn't mean that he should always live in that place.
'Please, ground. Swallow me right now.' His silent pleas were echoing in his mind. The moment he decided to run off was the moment Bakugo has decided to open his mouth, which Izuku didn't expect him to.
