Sania's POV

"Sania"

I turned around and saw my sister

"Aren't you going to do your dance today?" she asked

OHHHHH SH*TTT!! I forgot about that.

"Oh yeah I remembered, don't worry I gottchu" I said to play it cool

Ugh! That random guy is the problem to all this. If we didn't bump into each other at the first place,  I wouldn't be forgetting something so important especially if I was preparing for it since a year!

The dance performances started after I gave my very much emotional speech.

Baji's friends went first and then I decided to do my 'show stopping' performances cause I deserve it.

*Few moments later*

Sh*t!

Sh*t!

Sh*t!

I'm next!

The spotlights on me and I'm freaking out!

If you couldn't figure out already, I have a stage fright but I'm still outgoing (does that make sense?)

The song started and I danced as I practiced and everything went smoothly, phew!

The song stopped and I saw everyone started clapping and cheering as they were while I was dancing. My eyes made contact with Mr.Random Guy. He had a huge smile on his smile! What does he think of himself?!

I went to my sister and hugged her and congratulated her for the millionth time.

"AssalaamWalikum" a deep voice came from the back

A similar fresh scent of cologne hit my nostrils  which made me turn around...

*gasp*

"Ayaan! Finally you're here!" Sohail bhai (bro-in-law) said

"Meet Aneeqa and her sister, Sania"

He smiled to each of us as Sohail bhai introduced him

"And, this is Ayaan! He's my cousin and he drove in from New York today" Sohail bhai told us

"I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the previous events, I had to finish up important work" Mr.Random Guy said

Like I care, I just wanna know who asked?

Cause I know for a fact I didn't–

Calm down Sania, calm down.

"But congratulations on the wedding" he said

I excused myself cause my stomach gave up in the middle of that convo

Biryani here I come!

I was getting myself a plate of biryani and Mr.Random Guy comes next to me getting himself a plate as well.

"You danced really well, I'm impressed"

I stood there shocked as he walked away smirking.

What the heck!

Enough of that annoying guy, I needa focus on my biryani! Yummmm!!!

*Few minutes later*

"Sania, your sister's calling you" my mom said as I finished the last bite of my biryani

"I'll be there"

I walked up to my sister and she patted at the seat next to her. I went and sat there.

"Can you go to the car and bring me my phone?" she whispered in my ear

"Why me?!" I whined

"Cause you're my sister and plus why would I trust someone else with the car key?!" she answered

I mean she did have a point...

"Fine! Only cause I'm the best sister"

I walked to the car and dupatta got stuck to something. Wow such a Bollywood movie.

"Imagine if my dupatta got stuck to someones watch....... that my friends, would be hilarious" I said out loud

I turned around and got the biggest shock of my life!

SHIT!

SHIT!

SHIT!

"I guess the universe wants us to be together, that's why we keep bumping into each other" Mr.Random Guy said as he laughed

"You're so funny! I forgot to laugh" I said sarcastically and rolled my eyes

I was aggressively trying to free my dupatta, AGAIN.

"You know, sometimes if you try to do things with love, you'll be able to do it easily" he said looking into my eyes freeing my dupatta from his watch

I looked everywhere but him.

"Um,  I–, um, thank you........um I needa get going" I said and went to the car

I got to the car when I saw Mr.Random Guy behind me

"Looks like our destination was the same" he said

"Huh?"

"I needed something from my car" he told me

"Right...?" I looked at his confused

"Lemme clear the confusion, this is my car" he said as he pointed to the car next to mine

What a great day! (note the sarcasm)

I got Baji's phone and made my way towards the hall

"See ya" he said as I kept walking

I handed Baji her phone

"What took you so long? I've been waiting for you" Baji asked

"I couldn't find your phone so I had to do some digging" I lied

I really want to tell Baji about her cousin-in-law but I don't think it's the right time.

As I was busy debating with myself about this, it was time for the rukhsati ("sending off"), when the bride is sent off to her new home.

It was emotional for all of us, especially me.

My tears wouldn't stop. I hugged Baji tightly and started crying even more. May Allah bless the person who created waterproof makeup!

I left Baji and tried stopping my tears. After she left, everyone went inside to clean up while I stood outside thinking about all the memories we have.

Tears keep falling down my cheek and out of nowhere I saw a handkerchief being handed to me.

I turned and saw Mr. Random Guy holding it. I guess he's not that bad.

I denied it and used my dupatta to wipe my tears instead.

What?! I agree it was a sweet gesture but he's still a random guy I met today!

He put his handkerchief back in his pocket and said

"See you tomorrow, hope you feel better"

I got goosebumps. I turned to him and smiled.

"Bye" he said and left

He's different.
