Nindai and Savannah were climbing around the Nexus hall's lobby placing balloons and banners in preparation for a celebration.
"What are you guys doing?" Kayde and Eli walked in from the front door, spotting all the wondrous colors strewn about.
"We're preparing for Ms. Lucky's surprise party!" her sidekick answered.
"A surprise party? Seriously?" Kayde sighed. "This hardly seems like a time for a celebration."
"She is one of the founding members and an inspiration to many!" Nindai stated. "She deserves this. Besides, we have already sold out on tickets!"
"Tickets? You mean, this is a public event?"
"Yeah, you didn't know?" Eli asked. "I bought my ticket in advance."
"Boy... You live here..." Kayde shook his head in his hand, trying to maintain a calm demeanor. "Are we sure this is a wise decision?"
"It is!" Nindai answered. "Aux will even be the DJ for the evening!"
"Of course he is..."
"Relax, man," said Eli. "I'm gonna be scanning every guest and making sure they're safe. Not like anyone will actually be trying anything in the hall full of superheroes."
"Very well," his mentor sighed. "I'm gonna go iron my party suit. Go help with setting up." Kayde walked off, looking to calm his growing headache.
Shortly after, the Afterschoolers walked in and were immediately excited when they saw the party supplies.
"Ah! Girls! You're here early!" Nindai welcomed.
"What's going on?" Sofia asked.
"Oh my gosh... is it Ms. Lucky's birthday today?!" Invisia gasped.
"Yep!" Savannah flew over and hugged the group, happy to see them. "You guys are welcome to help set up if you want."
"Uh, sure. What can we help with?" Luli asked.
"There is plenty of work to be done! We must hang streamers, inflate balloons, and hook up the disco ball!" Nindai explained.
"I call streamers!" Sofia snatched up rolls of colored papers and started zooming around the building.
"I can help with the disco ball." Miya looked to the shining orb and levitated away with it.
"Guess that just leaves us with the balloons." Invisia and Luli grabbed a bag of balloons and started stretching them out. Rather than blowing into them, Invisia slowly formed a forcefield into each one until they were fully filled with air. Luli caught on and tied them up.
"That's a new power!" Savannah squealed. "Think of all the new team attacks you'll be able to do with it now!"
"R-Right!" Invisia could not hide her uneasiness, but shrugged off the tutor to get back to work.
Over in one of the more spacious rooms, Aux, Naeveh, and Eli were connecting wires to the speaker system. The sound hero played a quick beat of pop music, finding the volume to be lacking.
"Hey, Naeveh, I think one of those speakers might be dead," he called out. "Give them a quick charge for me."
"Alright." Naeveh sent out a few sparks into the sound system, allowing her mentor to provide full volume for the track he was playing.
Miya flew into the room and casually started installing the disco ball to the ceiling. Eli took notice of it and aimed one of the lights above. The reflective sphere dazzled and shined for all to admire.
