~eight~

To their credit, she had just kind of walked in and inserted herself where she was not wanted for lack of a better words.

I walk over to my bed and can hear giggling through the wall. She's really happy, I mean I'm happy for her its just that, man I wish that was me. I mean I am happy but, like relationship-wise.

I grab the remote and turn on the tv, cartoons always helps me to relax my mind. As I'm trying to find Disney Channel, my phone chimes again, but I ignore it, also again. Lucky for me, my favorite cartoon, Gravity Falls, is on so I turn out the overhead light and settle in to watch, almost forgetting for a moment, the past hour.

---his pov---

"Thanks, Julian, now she's not answering me." I say frustrated at him.

"Are you really surprised though, Dylan? I mean, this is Julian we're talking about here." Em says. 

"I was just, y'know, pointing out the obvious." J says defensively.

"There was nothing for us to be obvious about, therefore, nothing for you to point out. I'm leaving. And if either of you texts I won't be responding."

"I bet you'll respond if she texts you back though." J says not even trying to hide the smirk on his face.

I hear the beginning of another of Em's lectures just before I sign off. God they can both be annoying sometimes. I mean, I appreciate Emily defending us, but even she has her, Dannah I think it was, moments.

I mean I don't like her, well maybe, its complicated. But still, its annoying, yknow?

I watch tv for a while waiting for Han to respond, but she never does.

---her pov---

I wake up to the sound of my phone ringing from the nightstand. I look over and panic when I realize its my Nana.

(then next bit is spoken in spanish but I decided not to make you translate)

"Nana, I am so sorry, I fell asleep." I say instead of 'Hello.'

"That's fine, this is the first time I've tried to call you. I just wanted to check in, since I know you've been asleep, how's Kate?"

"I'm not sure, she's in your room, let me go ask."

I put myself on mute in case Kate's doing something she shouldn't be and walk to the other bedroom. I pass the wall clock that tells me its 9 o'clock, so ten for everyone back home. I knock before opening the door, and see her also asleep. I unmute myself and tell Nana that she's sleeping. We say goodbye and hang up.

I walk over to Kate to cover her with a blanket and notice that she's still on the phone with Matt. I smile to myself and leave the room, turning out the light on my way out.

I turn the light in my room back on because I know that now I won't be able to go back to sleep anytime soon. I check my notifications and there aren't many which is nice in some cases, not so nice in others. Em text me once to ask me if I was alright, but shes probably already asleep so I don't respond. I have a few texts from family that I'll leave for the morning. Dylan tried me twice on both Snap and Messages, so I text him back.

i'm sorry about J, he's just being an ass. he'll try to spread rumors but it'll blow over by the time we're back in school.
