“Mom, please it isn't -” He tore the headphones off his head and tossed them on his desk as he got up.

“Why are you covered in bruises?!” She asked, the anger and concern clearly evident. Felix hurriedly put his jacket back on, zipping it up.

“Felix-”

“Mom.. Please.. Can we just say I fell and leave it at that..?” He asked, his voice breaking as his throat closed up. “Felix-”

“Please - please.. I don't...” One tear, then another, and other. The tears kept falling until he slowly fell to the floor, holding his knees and gripping them tightly as he sobbed. He cried so much that he had started hiccuping.

His mother watched him, silent tears running down her cheeks. She cleared her throat gently and opened her mouth to speak. Words failed her and she sighed.

“G.. Goodnight, Lixie baby. S-.. Sleep well, okay?” Felix hiccuped in response and she closed his door. He remained on the floor for a few more minutes, trying to calm his breathing as he wiped his eyes.

‘oh my god no... Please no.. Tell me he left or something..’

He sprang up to his computer, slipping his headphones back on, he sniffled softly and cleared his throat.

“C-Chan..?” He called hesitantly, his voice shaking. He didn't want to know if the older had heard what just happened, but he needed to know.

“Chan..?” He tapped his mic. A soft sigh emitted through his headphones.

“Yes, Felix?” He answered.

“Did you.. Hear all.. That?”

“What do you want the answer to be?”

“W-well.. It's private... I didn't want anyone know-”

“Then I didn't hear it.”

Felix looked at his screen, his eyes wide and his mouth hanging open, a blush spreading across his cheeks.

‘He's so.. Kind.. Considerate..’

“I say that, Felix, because, had I been in your position, I would want to be told what I told you.”

Felix's eyes glistened as he began his staring contest with his desk - the desk was winning but Felix refused to acknowledge it.

“Felix?”

“C-Chan.. I don't...”

On the other end, Chan had a sad smile on his face, he was teary-eyed and his face looked sad.

"Felix... Go to sleep, yeah? I'll be here in the morning, I promise.”

“My discord - it's LittleStarLix, no caps no spaces and the numbers are 4419.”

“Alright. I've written it down. Go to sleep, Felix..”

“Channie.. Can.. Can you .. Talk to me until I fall asleep?” There was a sigh on the other end - not an exasperated sigh, not a bored sigh, not one of those really huffy puffy sighs, just a sad sigh, he was sad for Felix.

“Of course.. How about you go get comfy, take your phone with you, and I'll call you on Discord, sound good?”

Felix hummed in response before exiting the game lobby and shutting off his computer. He ran a hand through his disheveled hair before crawling into bed with his phone. He grabbed his airpods from his side table and connected them to his phone. He put one, ‘Channie should call me soon..’

That was his thought before opening Discord and seeing there was already a request from Chan.

‘Channie is tired..’

Channie is tired:
Hey, I'm gonna call you now, okay?

LittleStarLix:
Yeah

Felix doesn't think he's ever answered a phone call so quickly in his life.

“Hey,” Chan murmured through the line.

“Hey..” Felix whispered. “Channie.. Are you tired?”

Chan thought for a minute, humming whilst he did so.

“Not really.. I've only been awake since maybe 3pm.. Minho woke me.”

Felix hummed in acknowledment, as he readied himself to ask another question, Chan beat him to it.

“What languages can you speak?”

“I'm fluent in English and French and my mother was paying a private tutor to teach me Korean for about three years until I told her I didn't want to do it anymore- which was when I was about thirteen or fourteen..”

“Why did you stop? If you don't mind sharing.”

“It's nothing too personal.. I just decided to stay here.. I was on the path for a scholarship for Sungkyunkwan University - in Seoul, and I really wanted to go.. But, things happened.. And I just dropped everything..” Chan nodded - despite the fact that the younger couldn't see him.

“I see... Well, I'm sure that school would still accept you, if you ever decided to pick up.. Whatever it was you were doing..?”  He ended with a very confused tone.

“Oh..! Right.. I was taking dance lessons from when I was four uptil then.. I still dance, just.. Not with that.. Studio.” Chan hummed again. “I also took and am still taking Taekwondo lessons, I'm on my way to being a third degree black belt- at least, that's what my teacher says.”

“Your teacher should know! Trust your teacher.”

“I do.. He's been putting up with me since I could walk.” Felix chuckled, Chan didn't.

“Do you like music? I was thinking I could play one of my songs for you.”

“You write music?” Felix asked.

“I do, I write lyrics with Minho from time to time, apparently some of the other guys write too - Hyunjin refuses to share with me, Hannie has no issue sharing, Changbin sends me everything he writes.. Seungmin is more of a dancer and Jeongin is... Well.. Jeongin. I don't know what he does.”

“Will you play one of your songs for me then?”

“Of course I will! I wouldn't ask then not do it, Lix. Let me play one for you..”

Chan strummed his guitar a few times before picking up the right beat as he played a slow, sweet, subtle song to lull the boy to sleep. It was one of Chan and Minho's unfinished songs “Sweet Lullaby”. They wrote it when they couldn't sleep and they just keep forgetting to add to it.

“But this voice keeps me a-wake at night..” Chan sang softly, his voice blessing Felix's right ear. “You see.. It's no better than me.”

Chan finished his song a few minutes later. When his last string finished ringing through his room he stayed silent for a few minutes, simply listening to Felix's soft snores and gentle breathing with a smile on his face.

“At least he's asleep.. Goodnight Lix, sleep tight.”
