Lily POV
Eliana enters the Great Hall looking nervous. Dorcas was the first to notice her, and beckoned her over to us. She nods, and hesitantly sits down next to Emmeline. She's still looking around in wonder at the Great Hall as I catch James give her a small smile before turning back to his conversation with Frank and Remus. "So you're in Gryffindor?" Marlene asks, nodding towards Eli's robes.

"Yeah," she says, turning to look at Marlene. "There was an old hat with a voice."

"The sorting hat. You missed the first year sorting by the way. You didn't miss much. A lot of Hufflepuffs, which Mary will be happy about," Emmeline says.

Eli looks nervous and unsure, as if she started casting a spell not knowing what it would do. She looks around, focusing on Sirius, who gives her a reassuring smile. She turns back to us, looking a little less lost. "So," she starts, clearly not knowing what to say. "You'll have to show me the ins and outs of Hogwarts."

I nod, but Dorcas smirks at me, and responds, "Oh please, Lily. As if you've ever gone anywhere but the classrooms and the library."

"Untrue! I've gone plenty of places," I say, defensively. Though, it's true. I prefer to follow the rules, and as a prefect, it's only right.

"Who's that?" Eli says, pointing to the two people who stood up to talk to Dumbledore. One has short, dark hair, and gorgeously sharp green eyeliner, to match her house. The other is a short, white haired boy, who's yellow robes are the brightest thing about him.

"Andromeda Black and Alex Dundy. They're Head Girl and Head Boy. How Dundy got it, I don't know. He never talks to anyone, unless it's about the rules. He was an okay prefect, but a Head Boy should be more than just a rule follower. They should be there for people. And Dundy isn't. Don't really know why he's Hufflepuff, to be honest," Emmeline says, shaking her head. Emmeline has never been to keen on the Head Boy, but she's not exactly a rule follower. She skips classes and has never been in the common room by curfew. She punches Slytherins on a regular, and mouths off to teachers. The only rules she does follow are quidditch rules. Despite that, she's extremely compassionate, and would die for the people she loves. She's one of the best and the worst people I've ever met.

"Oh, he's not that bad, Em. Just a little stiff," Marlene says. Her demeanor is much more relaxed, but she, like Emmeline, would never turn down the chance to punch or hex a good bully. She pays no mind to most rules, but doesn't break them for no good reason. She never makes a promise she can't keep, saying 'that's like lying to somebody's face. And I hate liars.' Her confident, relaxed manner doesn't mask the fact that she is stupidly smart, and would not hesitate to call you out if you're wrong.

"You know him, Emmeline?" Eli says. It's weird to hear Em's full name. All her friends call her by her nicknames, because we all think her real name is too long.

"Call me Em or Emmy. No one calls me Emmeline." Em is still slightly hostile towards Eliana, but she doesn't seem to despise her, or the fact that she's here. That's good for Emmeline, who doesn't do well with new people.

"It's true. I don't think I've use your full name since second year, unless I was mad at you. Or sarcastic," Dorcas comments, joining the conversation. Dorcas is the most sarcastic person I've met, other than Remus Lupin. However, she's not the most talkative until you get to know her, and she seems aloof and rather rude. Dorcas is not like that, to people she likes anyways. I can tell she likes Eli, due to the smile and the absence of rudeness.

"You're always sarcastic dear," Alice says lovingly. Alice has always been the mother hen of the group, giving the best advice and always has a comforting hug ready. She's always opted towards pet names, and rarely gives a threat. Though she uses none herself, Alice has always thought the sarcastic quips her friends make are quite entertaining. It was one if the most ironic things about her.
