She'd never get tired of watching her:
Her slim figure moving through the different rows, her clear blue eyes searching for a movie to get for the day.
Robing knew it all by now.
The way her sharp jaw would move forward in the slightest way whenever she was chewing on her lip while trying to choose between two different films.
How, on the rather hot days, she'd tie up her brown curls in order to keep them out of her face.
How her brows would raise once she found the thing she was looking for.
Another thing Robin had noticed was that she'd always, always, let Steve talk to her.
Whenever the girl started moving towards them she would turn away, pretending to be really busy wiping imaginary dust from the countertop.
Robin did not know whether this was because she was horrible and talking to people or because she got way too nervous around her.
Even from afar, she could feel the butterflies in her ribcage going wild.
It was one of those days.
Summer break would be starting soon and Robin was working through her last shift of the season with Steve when the door of the video store opened.
Robin immediately turned to find the source of the noise and her eyes glued on the girl the minute she walked into the room.
At the sight of her favorite customer, she moved from the back of the store to sit with Steve who had been sorting out old movies. Not because of the boy, of course, but because of the better view, she would have on the girl whose name she didn't even know.
He didn't pay much attention to her at first. He was used to having Robin around.
With time, the two of them had become inseparable.
Robin leaned forward in her chair, resting her chin in her hands.
A wide grin appeared on her face as she watched the girl turn into the section that held the horror movies.
She didn't look like the kind of person who'd like that kind of movie.
Robin was sure she was the kind of girl to watch cheesy romance stuff, snuggled up against some boy's chest in his bedroom.
"Jesus" she heard Steve whispering. "Robin Buckley you are such a creep"
He had stopped his work of sorting and was now looking directly at her.
"What are you saying dingus?" she replied, without turning to look at him.
"I am saying" he leaned forward too so that his head was right next to Robin's. "You are a creep"
At that, she did turn, looking back at him.
"I am not. I was just- watching. Who knows? Maybe this girl is into stealing horror movie tapes?"
"She's been here so much lately and never stole a single thing..." he grinned.
"You never know"
"Well, you definitely don't, as much as you stare at her whenever she walks through that door"
He pointed to the entrance as he was talking.
Robin rolled her eyes at him.
"But if you are seriously suspecting that she'd steal from this place, you should go talk to her about that, shouldn't you? Do your job and all"
This suggestion caused Robin to fully turn in her chair.
"I am not you, Harrington! I can't just walk up to any girl and- confront her about stealing movies. I don't even know her name.."
"Nancy Wheeler," Steve said eventually. "She's in her last year at school. Comes here every week to grab a movie for her little brother and his friends"
Robin's mouth had fallen agape slightly. "Who's the creep now, dingus?"
"Hey" he put his hands up in defense "I know a friend of her brother, okay? On top of that, I noticed how much you seem to like her. Which, to be honest, is kind of obvious! So why not gather some important information for my best friend?"
Robin couldn't hold back the smile. Best friend.
It was weird to think that someone actually considered her as their best friend.
Especially when it was Steve Harrington.
After years of feeling like a nobody, Steve finally made her feel like she mattered to someone.
That was something Robin would always feel incredibly grateful for.
