You mentally try to shake the unease out of your mind, looking towards Red and Prince, trying to subtly see if they felt... that too. Your heart pounds in your ears, suddenly so loud to you. Hopefully you aren't the only one affected by whatever that was..
Red's giving Raven a pointed look, arms crossed unhappily over his knees. The promise of a wish hasn't stalled his unhappy train about performing a ritual that's going to (most likely) fail. Other than his general air of grumpiness and aura of disapproval, however, he doesn't seem as unsettled as you were. Which is... perfectly fine, yeah! You're glad he isn't feeling what you felt..
Okay so maybe that doesn't comfort you, and maybe you feel a bit more unsettled but! Prince surely must have felt what you felt! Surely..
Your eyes quickly swivel towards Prince's face, quickly searching it. He looks, actually, a bit excited for this ritual Raven has planned for you guys. He still looks uncertain about the whole thing, but you're pretty sure that's a default state of his really. Again, though, that's really all there is to his expression. No sign he felt the eyes on him too, or that sense of foreboding.
So maybe no one felt that terrifying sensation. That means it's gotta be all in your mind, plenty of things can feel real without actually being real, right? You hug your knees closer to yourself, and focus back on Raven, shoving your unease and discomfort back in favor of that giddy feeling you felt at the chance of being offered a wish.
Your grin becomes less shaky as you focus on the possibilities.
"Sounds like fun, Raven! What do we need to do, to get these wishes? 'Cause I'm kind of assuming this benevolent elder god ain't just gonna pop in all genie like and say we each get one wish."
Raven's excited gaze quickly sharpens on your face, her smirk widening as she gives you a nod. "You're correct, my space-full friend. No Elder God worth their salt would just give a wish to any old fool who had the courage to summon them." She un-laces her hands, leaning back on them instead. "From what I read, when we summon this benevolent Elder God, they will give us some tasks to fulfill. Once we finish those tasks, they will then grant us each one wish."
You nod along to her words. That made sense, though it didn't help your feeling of unease. An elder god is an elder god, and they don't exactly have the best of reputations. Whatever they ask of you may not exactly be good, for you, your friends, or for humanity as a whole.
... You hope it isn't something so absolutely horrible like that however. Again, you could really use a wish in your life right about now. Living on the streets like you are now isn't exactly the grandest of living situations, even if it gave you kickass friends.
Red clears his throat from where he sits, grabbing Raven and your attention. He raises an unimpressed eyebrow at you two, crossing his arms over his chest (which, huh, you're just now noticing he likes to do).
"I really don't think that's going to work, nor do I think that would be a good idea. Your track record with these things is 0 successes to God-knows how many failures. Plus, doing a favor for an Elder god?" He scoffs, rolling his eyes. "Raven, come on, that can't sound good to you. You know how Elder gods are portrayed, I know you do. And Luke." He turns his unimpressed gaze towards you, frowning now. It kind of makes you want to shrink in on yourself..
"C'mon dude, you can't seriously be thinking about helping her with this, right?"
You turn your gaze towards the rundown play area, avoiding his gaze. One hand goes to your hair, messing with it awkwardly.
"Ummmm... Maybe??" You pout slightly, looking towards the ground now. "Okay, yeah, I'm thinking of helping her. What's wrong with that, Red?" You finally meet his gaze, your eyes narrowed. You're kind of confused, honestly. So Raven hasn't succeeded once at any of her curses, hexes, and rituals. What does that matter when you could be given a wish from a being of power? You thought he'd be on board with it, after hearing that honestly. "You and I both know we could use a wish right now. Our living situation ain't really getting any better as the days go by."
Red's eyes soften, and his frown recedes slightly. He looks contemplatively at the ground for a second before looking back up at you. "Well I can't exactly argue that, as you aren't exactly wrong.. However, I still think it's ridiculous, and dangerous." He gives you and Raven a stern look. "Look, as helpful as it may turn out to be, I still don't think we should do this. Who knows what that Elder god may ask of us?" He huffs unhappily once more, though not as intensely as before, having taken in your reasoning. "We are not going to be doing this ritual, alright? The possible dangers outweigh the potential benefits."
"Um, if you don't mind my input on this matter.." Suddenly Prince pipes up, and all three of your heads swivel over to him. He flinches slightly at the sudden attention, but gives you guys a nervous smile anyways. "I think we should attempt this ritual our mutual friend has proposed. It may be quite dangerous, however, I believe it won't be, as naive as that thinking is." Prince pauses, looking away and slightly blushing. "Plus, if it's with you guys, I believe that no matter what this entity throws at us we would be able to take it."
You smile widely, warmed from the trust and confidence Prince has in your friend group. The sweet words seem to have an effect on Red too, as you can almost physically see his wariness and displeasure melt away from him.
Sighing, Red throws his hands into the air dramatically. "Fine then, if that's what you guys want to do, then that's what we'll do. Can't argue against all three of you." Maybe you spoke too soon about his displeasure and wariness melting away.... Anyways!
You give a loud, exaggerated whoop of joy at his backing down. Raven claps exaggeratedly as well, smiling for once, while Prince chuckles nervously, smiling happily at Red.
Maybe this won't be so bad. Like Prince said, if it's with these three, then maybe, just maybe, things will turn out alright.
