There are some things I still don't know everything about you. I don't know your past, your fears, your demons or your pain yet. Yet. But I am sure that I will be there with you, conquering whatever battles you have in your life. You know why? Because I am your friend. 'Because I love you...so much.'
-Lucas Johnson, Amidst the Rain
Daylee's POV
My name is Daylee Rain Magallanes. I am a junior in high school, specifically in 8th grade. And I am now being interrogated by my best friends. Help...
"Daylee, what happened back there?" Sky, the President of the class slash my very caring and nosy friend asked, staring at me with furrowed brows.
"Nothing. I just got nervous for a second. That's it. That's all there is to it." I fiddle with my fingers, giving him an awkward smile. 'Please, just let it go. I mean everyone gets nervous during presentations, right?'
"That wasn't nothing. You were shaking, Daylee." James Choi, the annoying "heart throb" of our group suggested.
Maureen, my adorable half-chinese childhood bestie stared at me worriedly. "I'll take care of it," she mouths without anyone noticing.
"Guys, come on. She's still shaken from what happened earlier. Cut her some slack," she insisted. James turned to me and then to Maureen."You two smell fishy, but I won't pry. For now." He sighed in defeat.
She shot me look which I immediately understood. 'Whew! That was close. Thank you, Mau. I'll buy you sweet corn later.'
"Right. Just like what James said, she was shaking. And I assume that you two curious creatures can feed your curiosities at a later time. Am I right or am I right?" Yurina added, pointing to Sky and James.
With the two boys nodding their heads obnoxiously, Rina fixed her glasses on the bridge of her perfect nose and grinned widely. "Good."
Sky sat on the empty chair beside me. "Just tell us when you're ready. Maybe you're not 100 percent comfortable around us yet. But that's fine. No pressure, Dayles," he said as he held my shoulder.
"Thank you." I smiled sincerely. Oh! "By the way, are you guys ready for our earthquake quiz in Science later?"
"Wait whot?! We have a quiz?! I was not informed about this catastrophe!" Dave Summers, my British buddy exclaimed in his fancy British accent. 'That's because you were too busy reading manga, bro. I'm surprised you're not failing yet.'
"Of course you wouldn't knoww. You were too preoccupied talking about Shouto Todoroki so passionatelyy yesterdayy. Poor James had to listen to your rambling." Maureen replied, immitating his accent and failing miserably.
Dave raised his hands, barely hiding his laughter. "Fair enough. James, may I ask for your generous mercy on helping me review for today's quiz?" He showed his puppy eyes and "cutely" batted his eyelashes at James. James grimmaced and looked like he was about to vomit his breakfast. 'Haha.'
After 30 minutes of cramming and information overload we have finally finished taking our quiz. "I got 48/50. How many did you guys get?" I look behind to face my friends.
"50." Sky replied while revising his notes, his jet black hair covering his brilliant hazel-brown eyes. 'As usual.'
"Me too." James added with two thumbs up and a proud grin. 'Also as expected.'
Maureen flipped her shiny, crow-black hair. "I got 48 too. We are twins indeed, Daylee." She walks over to me.
"Yup!" I answered while we high-fived.
