"Ellison! School starts in 30 minutes! Get out of bed!" I hear my dad yell from down stairs.

I turn over to look at my alarm clock. He's right. It is already 8:30.

Ugh.

Today is new girl day.

I dig through my dresser and find a baby blue leotard and my new pink tights.

I find my mesh bag and refill the baby powder.

The spacers for pointe shoes have to be in baby powder.

I have a lot, but my mom makes me get more very day.

I put my hair up into a perfect high bun and put a white bow in.

As I go downstairs, dad hands me a granola bar.

"Have a good day Ellison." He says. "Don't eat this while you are riding your bike, and make sure to pack a water bottle."

I kiss him and go out the back door.

I put the bar in my dance bag and set it in the basket.

When I arrive, I go into the class room.

Every day, we always have academics as our first class, because, we all have to learn something.

The rest of the 13 year olds come in a little after me.

Mr. Martin comes in with a girl our age.

She has golden blonde hair tied into a tight low pony-tail, and is wearing a black leotard.

"Class," Mr. Martin begins," I would like you to meet Kenzie. She will be joining us this year."

"Hi, I'm Kenzie." She says, and then takes her seat.

Which happens to be right next to mine.

"Welcome to Burnington." I say," I'm Ellison.

"Hi Ellison! Nice to meet you."

Wow. She is actually willing to talk.

Maybe she will be my friend.

Today Mr. Martin taught us about he Industrial Revolution.

Tomorrow we will do science.

My favorite.

After first period, we have a 30 minute break before solos.

"Wow. All these people are really serious."

I turn around, startled, and see Kenzie standing there.

I smile, " Yeah," I say. "I hate it. I love dance, but not all this work."

She looks stunned.

"Hard work is what makes you better. You have got to learn to love working hard, and being tired."

"How?" I ask, hopefully not sounding too stupid.

"I'll teach you."

I smile. I give her my phone number and tell her she can come over to my place sometime if she wants.

I wonder how she can help me learn how to love to work hard?

I guess she will just teach me to love working hard, as much as I love my little blue tutu.

And she's got her work cut out for her.

I do really, really, really love that costume.

😂

The rest of the day flies by fast.

I landed my quadruple turn series in my solo, and me and my solo teacher, Miss. Sander were really exited.

I like Miss. Sander much better than Mrs. Klavda.

Miss. Sander is young and pretty and nice.

We got our group dance costumes today also.

They are black and kind if remind me of a raven.

Probably because in our dance we are supposed to be evil birds.

When we did the dress rehearsal at the end of the day, I found that it was super hard to get the costume on. The tutu was multi-layered, and the torso is so tight!

It looks really creepy when we do the dance in the costumes.

The music itself sends shivers down my spine. But, add demented choreography, and the "Raven Girl" ( My second favorite ballet behind Geselle) based costumes, you get an entire mix of scary.
