Disclaimer: I don't own Ninjago, just the story and my OC's.

Britney woke up early the next morning and was surprised to see that her parents were sitting in the kitchen.  "What are you two doing up already?" she asked her parents.

"We could ask you the same thing," Mrs. Ly said.

"I've been living with ninja for years now.  It has kind of become normal.  Now, tell me why you are up."

"We just didn't sleep well last night," Mr. Ly said.

"Oh.  I see."  The atmosphere was tense between Britney and her parents.  Britney didn't really know what to say, so she started getting herself some coffee because it was too early for her to be dealing with her parents.  She wanted to be able to let them back into her life, but she wants to make sure she could trust them first.  She thought carefully about what to say next, but only one thing really came to mind.  "Why now?"

"Why what now?" Mr. Ly asked.

She turned to face her parents.  "Why did you two come back now?  You could've come back at any time during the last 11 years, but you didn't!  You could've tried to make amends with me, my husband, and my son anytime in the past 11 years, but you chose to try now!  I don't understand why!"  Britney's phone started ringing before her parents could respond.  She took it out of her pocket and looked at the caller ID and saw that it was Cyrus Borg and decided to answer it.  "Hello."

"Hello Britney," Cyrus Borg said from the other end of the phone.  "There's something that I would like to share with you.  Is now a bad time?"

Britney took a quick glance at her parents.  While she would like to know their response, she had a feeling that what Cyrus Borg wants to tell her is important.  "No.  Go ahead."

"Have you heard about the major anti-elemental masters protest that's going on in Ninjago City today?"

"Of course I have.  The others and I have been trying to hide it from the kids."

"Well, I just found out who is coordinating this protest."

"Who?"

"It turns out that it's your parents."

Hearing that, Britney's eyes widened in shock.  Of course, they haven't changed.  "Thanks for the intel, Mr. Borg."  Britney could hear her own voice was shaky.

"Is everything alright, Britney?"

"Everything will be fine."  She hung up the phone and put it back in her pocket as she turned around to face her parents again.  Her father opened his mouth to speak, but Britney spoke before he could.  "Are you kidding me?!  All the stuff you said about wanting to be back in my life was a lie!"

"That's not true," Mrs. Ly said.  "We do want to be back in your life.  We're offering you a chance out of here.  There are lots of people out there who know that elemental masters are dangerous and they will help you see that.  Come on.  Let's get out of here before any of them come out of their rooms."  Mrs. Ly tried to grab Britney's arm, but she yanked it back.

"I'm not going anywhere with you.  You can't be back in my life if you're not willing to accept the family I created.  You can't be back in my life if you're not willing to accept that my husband and son are elemental masters.  You guys need to leave."

"We are not leaving without you, sweetheart," Mr. Ly said.

"Don't you 'sweetheart' me."  If they weren't going to leave willingly, she was going to bring out the big guns.  "KAI!!!"

Kai came running to the kitchen when he heard Britney yell for him.  He figured with how early in the morning it was, that it must be important.  He didn't expect to see Britney standing in the kitchen with her parents.  "What's going on in here?" he asked.

"Kai, will you please escort my parents out?" Britney asked him.

This is the moment Kai has been waiting for since Britney's parents arrived.  "Gladly."  He ran to the room that Britney's parents had been using and quickly threw their stuff into their suitcases and came back out.  He walked to the door to enter the monastery and threw the suitcases out and then circled back around to usher Mr. and Mrs. Ly out.  "I hope you enjoyed your stay at Casa de Ninja.  Please do not come again."

Mr. and Mrs. Ly left in a huff.  They were not happy about their daughter's choice to stay and the fact that they were being kicked out by an elemental master.

"Thanks, Kai," Britney said after her parents left and sat down at the kitchen table.

"No problem," Kai said.  "I've been wanting to kick them out since they got here."

"I know.  Lloyd told me."

Kai sat down next to her.  "Are you ok?" he asked.

Britney ran a hand over her face.  "Yeah.  I'll be fine."

"If you don't mind me asking, what exactly happened?"

She sighed.  "I was honestly going to try to give them another chance.  They started having me think that, maybe, they really did change.  I was going to try to give them a chance to explain why they chose to come back now and then I got a call from Cyrus Borg.  He told me that my parents were the ones who coordinated the ant-elemental masters protest in Ninjago City today.  I was so naive to think that maybe they changed!  They haven't and they never will!"

"You don't need them," Kai told her.  "You haven't needed them for the last 11 years and even before that.  You dealt with being pregnant with Max by yourself.  At that time, your parents had kicked you out and Lloyd had no idea he was going to be a father, but you managed.  You are far stronger than you give yourself credit for."

"Really?"

"Really.  And if you ever need help, you have your husband and all the other adults in this monastery, including me.  I've always felt the need to protect Lloyd and that now extends to you."

"That means a lot, Kai.  I didn't know you had such a soft side."

"Yeah.  No one needs to know about this."

"Got it."

Kai stood up.  "How about I go wake Zane up and have him make some breakfast?"

"You don't have to wake him up."  She really didn't want bother anyone else.

"I think you could use something good this morning and I'm sure Zane won't mind."

"Thanks again, Kai," Britney said as Kai started leaving to go wake up Zane.

"Anytime."

Britney smiled.  It was nice knowing that she had people that cared about her.  Screw her parents, her family was in the monastery.

A/N: I know it's been a while since I updated this, but here it is!  Next chapter, we'll get back into what's going on with the ninja kids.  I hope you enjoyed!
