Chapter 1- The Deal

(Luz's POV)

"So, if I help Belos experiment on ways of stopping his curse, he'll leave my friends and the Boiling Isles alone...? And use his magic knowledge to help me get back home? It almost sounds too good to be true, Luz. Luckily you snuck a lie detector in... PFFT yeah right." I thought to myself. Should I really trust Belos? I mean, the countless times he has tried to kill me, Eda and the others. Boy, if I had a dollar for each time he did, i'd be on a yacht right now. "Fine, Belos. I accept. Only on one condition, you have to show me that I can trust you. Do something good. Do something I would do." Belos looked in disbelief as I said that. "Very well, Luz. Give me a moment, please." His smile was... Suprisingly real. Not one of those wicked smiles your grandparents give as they ask "You got any boyfriends, Luz?" Knowing fully well I am bisexual and hard crushing on women as a day-job. Pfft, even admitting it sounds stupid. As I'm lost in my thought, Belos comes back in with... Amity's Mom?

(NO ONE'S POV)

Belos sat back in his throne as he beckoned Mrs Blight to come closer to him. "Odalia Blight. For crimes of abusing and manipulating not just your children, but your husband and co-workers too. I hereby sentence you to...." Odalia looked in complete shock as Luz stepped next to her. Belos smiled warmly as he carried on: "Therapy. To try and make yourself become a better person. You need to realise that your 'Happy Family' fantasy is a complete visage. You just want power, Odalia. Not everything is a business." Her face as Belos said that changed from fear to devestation. "I... I know. I just want what's best for my children." She turned to Luz; tears flooded in her eyes as she put a hand on Luz's shoulder. "Luz. I'm sorry for everything i've done to drive you and my daughter apart. I see what she has become, thanks to you. She's much stronger since you came to the Isles.." She smiled as Belos allowed her to go home and talk to her family. 

Luz was shocked. She had no words for what she just witnessed. All the anger Amity's mother portrayed, was all an act. She is still a scared, weak child. She just wanted her children to be better than her. Belos spoke up, snapping Luz from her thoughts. "So Luz, do we have a deal?" He asked, a bit rushed. Luz nodded as Belos stood up. "Looks like we have work to do then, Noceda" He smiled warmly, taking Luz into his study room.
