Yeah, this is a big Richard Hammond whumpy mess. And you know I love me some whump!
However, I bloody well hope the situation in this fic never fucking happens to the little bastard in real life.... It's a miracle it didn't back in 2006 and again in 2017.
So.... This is a bad bad Richard Hammond accident fic. And also an eventual Clarkson/Hammond/May fic. The guys will be separated from their irl partners in this, even though I adore their irl partners, especially Mindy and Lisa, though I don't know much about Sarah.... It's just how the idea came to me.
Also, I just need to mention that Richard and Mindy will still be on good terms in this fic. I don't know how often she'll be in this, as I prefer to keep irl partners and family out of my fics when writing rpff, but she'll be in this for plot purposes. Same goes for his daughters. Same with Clarkson's kids. Though Clarkson, Hammond, and May are the main focus of this fic, much like all my other Top Gear and Grand Tour fic.
I think I've mentioned it somewhere, but I just don't like writing irl partners and family into rpf fic if they're not necessary to the plot (at least not anymore. I know I have during my Kellic days, but I don't recall it being very often back then. Think a lot of the time I actually just made up new characters for their families tbh). At most they'll get a mention, or a few scenes here and there, but really, even that's pushing it. Usually I'll just go an au route where they don't exist if the plot doesn't call for them to be present in any way. Basically if they're not in the spotlight, then I generally don't write them if I don't need to.
Now, what else can I say here.... I don't know....
I don't think there'll be smut in this? It's not really something that I enjoy writing too much, but I will write it if I have an idea for it (though, all my straight up smut one-shots are only found on my Ao3 account, Candy_Kittens), and I'm not opposed to writing smut for these three if I have an idea for it I suppose, but like, if it's not needed, I don't write it. And honestly, I'm not sure yet if it'll be needed for this fic.
Oh, please don't expect frequent updates. I have multiple other fics on the go, and I'm not a fast writer. I'm the Captain Slow of writing. I write at my own pace, so updates are totally random. And my job takes away a lot of my writing time. I work night shifts 4pm to 1:30am Mon-Fri. And I write best at night, so... bit of an issue there....
