The three of them don't do much for the next few days. Mostly just spend time together watching movies together while ordering takeout, and drinking together. Just anything that James and Jeremy can think of to take Richard's mind off the divorce.
They also discuss ideas for the upcoming season for the Grand Tour, and now that the divorce is out in the open between the three of them, Richard finds himself actually willing and able to take part in the conversation more than he did when they were at their office discussing everything with Wilman.
And so far, the upcoming season sounds like it's going to be a great one. But they've still got a lot more stuff to figure out what to do, and they've still got another meeting to attend at some point with Wilman and their script writer, Richard Porter, to work on the scripts for each episode once they've figured out the contents of each episode and segment.
Richard is really looking forward to getting back to filming in the tent. He had really missed it when they had decided to ditch the tent after season 3, and he's looking forward to getting back to it.
Although, for this next series, considering the three of them are quite busy with other commitments, specifically himself with the workshop, Jeremy with his farm, and James doing... whatever it is that he's been doing lately, they've decided to cut the season shorter. So, while the previous three seasons before they had switched to just doing one or two specials a year, had over ten episodes each, they've decided that this new season, and any following, will only have six episodes, plus one big special. With their busy schedules and advancing ages... and a few possible developing health issues, that set up sounds more doable to them.
Now, the three of them are just lounging around in the backyard under a tree, trying to come up with ideas for this season's big road trip.
However, these days it proves to be a little difficult to find somewhere to go out and film a big road trip where they either haven't been, or are still able to get into. Because there's some places they just can't get into for whatever reason, including places that they've been to in the past. Then there's the few places they've been banned from, like Argentina for obvious reasons, that they can't enter, so those places are crossed off the list.
"We've never done a big road trip around New Zealand." James says.
"As beautiful as it is there, what is there that we could do?" Jeremy asks.
"Well for one, we could have Hammond dressed up as a hobbit for the entire time we're there filming." James suggests.
Richard narrows his eyes at that suggestion, as he rips up a pile of grass and throws it at him.
James shakes off the grass that manages to get in his hair, before grumbling in annoyance, picking grass out of his mug of tea. "You got some in my tea, you pillock."
Serves him right for that suggestion, Richard thinks, as he sips at his own mug of tea.
He's not sure if James is just joking at that suggestion, but either way.... And he honestly wouldn't put it past James to be completely serious with that. Because of course one of them would suggest something like that if they were to do a road trip special around New Zealand, given the country's fame for being where the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films were shot, and his height.
Honestly though, he's not really that short. More average size than anything. He just has the misfortune of working alongside much taller people. And one Jeremy Clarkson certainly makes him look smaller than he actually is....
"I am not dressing up as a hobbit for an entire road trip." He says. "For one thing, I'm not short enough to be a hobbit."
He's much taller than a hobbit. Hobbits are only around 3 feet, if that. He's 5'7 ish. Which is much taller than a damn hobbit.
