"VERONICA GET UP! YOUR BREAKFAST IS GOING TO GET COLD!" A middle aged woman yelled from the kitchen while pouring her husband a cup of coffee. "Thank you honey."he said looking up from the newspaper he was reading, "you're welcome dear." she said with a smile.
The dark haired girl groans as she pulls herself out of bed, sitting at the edge of her bed rubbing her eyes trying to wake herself up. She grabbed an old hair tie off of her bedside table and put her hair into a high ponytail before making her way to the bathroom to get ready for the day.
She walks downstairs and into the kitchen, greeting her aunt and uncle. "Good morning guys." Veronica says taking a sit across from her uncle. "Good morning sweetie." her aunt said while pouring some orange juice into a glass for her and giving her a kiss on the head. Veronica looked up at her aunt and smiled. "Good morning kiddo." her uncle said while taking a sip of his coffee.
"How did you sleep?" her aunt asked while taking a sit next to her husband. "Good." she said while stuffing her face with pancakes. "Any new nightmares that we should know about?" her uncle said before looking over to his wife who had a worried look on her face. "No. Just the same one." "Also, how has those new pills been treating you?" "Good. I just get a little dizzy but they're good." "Doctor Hazel said that's a normal side effect when getting on new medication." her aunt said
"Can we not talk about the nightmares or new medicine right now? Please."Veronica said while looking down at her empty plate. Her aunt and uncle looked at her with softened eyes. They knew that talking about that stuff saddened her. "S-Sure." her uncle stuttered before looking over at his wife for help but she was stuck too. There was a silence in the kitchen, not an awkward or uncomfortable one just one that felt right. 'I wish I could tell them that the nightmares are getting worse and that I'm starting to get headaches that won't go away no matter what I do' Veronica thought to herself but was soon pulled out of her thoughts by her uncle speaking again.
"Are you excited to go back to Hawkins?" her uncle said while taking another sip of coffee. "Shit."Veronica mumbled, thinking that nobody heard her but aunt did. "Language young lady!" her aunt said with a surprise expression planted on her face. "Sorry. I totally forgot that that was today." Veronica said before mentally slapping herself on the forehead. 'How could I forget about that?' I can't go back, not after leaving my friends behind without saying goodbye.' what if I see Steve? 'What if he hates me for leaving and never wants to speak to me again?' Veronica head was spinning with so many thoughts. She was scared to go back after everything, she was scared to see everyone again after leaving and not saying goodbye. The thought of them hating her or just completely ignoring her scared her.
Veronica was too into her head to even realize that her uncle was calling her name. "Earth to Veronica." her uncle said while waving his head in her face. She snapped out of the trance she was in. "Uh sorry. I zoned out there for a minute." she said with a small chuckle. Her aunt and uncle looked at each, they both had the same worried expression on their face. "Are you excited to back?" her aunt said with a worrying tone. "Yeah. I'm excited to go back and see everyone again!"she said while looking down at her shoes. "That's good! We're excited for you but you know me and your uncle will miss you." "I know." "are you all packed up" " yeah, I packed everything up last week" " that's fantastic!" her aunt said with a smile.
Veronica got up from her seat and went over to the sink to put her dishes away. "I am going to miss you guys too." she said while walking over to them and giving them both a hug. She went upstairs and into her room, closing the door behind her. "God, This is going to be a long day." Veronica said with a sigh while running her hands though her wavy dark brown hair
