Season 1 Episode 2
The door banged, key twisted. Eve was stepping down with a face flushed as the tip of her heels clashed the tiled stairs koi koi koi. She sighed continuously.
Liz, a light skinned lady, with a hair so brown and soft, having a captivatingly seductive eyes, hanging a supple lips with a body so curvy and pointy coupled with an inviting glowing well stretched legs, whose room faced the stairs came out with a towel wrapped round her body. Eve couldn't notice Liz step out because she was lost in thought of the strange visitor she received the last night. Liz who had been greeting but received no reply tapped Eve from behind before she could step out of the main door. Eve staggered in shock, "Jesus!"
"Eve, (Pidgin English) biko wetin dey bother you? (What is the matter with you?) I have greeted you for the third time but no reply." Liz said, twisting her eyebrows in anticipation.
Eve heaved a frustrated sigh, "Nothing Elizabeth. Am sorry I couldn't respond to your greetings. Let me quickly..." Eve almost finished, moving forward to step out of the gate.
Liz drew her back, and looked deeply into her eyes, cutting her words.
"Eve, you don't look okay o. Look at the dark circles under your eye." She touched Eve's face, "And your face is swollen. You also look gloomy. But you weren't like this yesterday now."
Eve hissed slightly, "It's just that i read throughout last night so I think that's the cause of the swollen face and dark circles." Eve stepped forward a bit but then reversed, "Err Liz, Didn't you hear screams yesterday night coming from upstairs?"
"Screams? Nope, nothing, there was no noise or screaming...everywhere was calm last night before i slept and i slept like a log of wood. Even when i woke up in the midnight to eat, you know me, (chuckled) FFO (smiles), I still didn't hear any screams or sounds. Aliyah whose room is close to yours told me this morning how she slept like a baby. So..."
"Oh, I see Okay. I will take my leave now. I don't want to be late for church. Won't you go to church?"
I and you? Have you ever seen me go to church? Did i follow you to church last Sunday? It is better you wake up if you are still sleeping."
"Oh! Yeah! Have forgotten you don't go to church. But Liz...err, i pity you. If Jesus should come today, what do you think is going to happen to you?! Hell is real, I tell you!" she said, leaned in.
Liz pushed her forward, away from her, Please, keep it inside your pocket. You are starting this morning again. Who even asked me to greet you this morning o, i shouldnt have."
Liz trampled her legs on the ground continuously, "Okay, you see this dark circles under your eye, if that your Jesus can clear it now" Liz touched her tongue, "Honestly, me and my household, i mean my fellow prostitute girls will follow you go church."
"My dark circles? Are you kidding me right now?" Eve asked, not believing the meaningless condition.
"Nzuzu! (Idiot) Please, move out of my presence! Church my foot." Liz walked on to pack her clothes which she stretched to dry, on the rope.
"Liz, you just don't want to change, do you? Okay, may God save your soul from the claws of the devil." Eve stepped out of the gate, walking to church with her moodiness.
Liz entered her room, poured her clothes on the bed and began to laugh, clapping her hands together. Her fellow prostitute sisters who slept over at her place the last night stared at her in bewilderment because when she stepped out of the room, it was with a frowned face since one of her sugar daddy refused to buy her the exact car she asked for.
It surprised them to see her return laughing as though has won a lottery. Chisom, one of the girls asked her the reason behind her continuous laughter while smiling. Chisom thought probably Liz had gotten them another millionaire to romance for the night. All her hormones were rising like bread inside water. The rising hormones dropped to zero degrees when Liz mentioned Eve as the reason behind her laughing.
Disappointedly she reluctantly asked what stun Eve pulled. Liz narrated and even added to the things Eve didn't say and do.
"What? Follow her to church? Tiffany, can you imagine?? What for? (Pidgin English)Liz, when you start to dey go church? Wetin you dey find? Or na fire brand brothers you want to dey chop these times? But i pity you, you go chop sermon tire! (When did you start attending church? What are you looking for? Or is it church brothers you want to be dating these times? I pity you. He will just be keeping you busy with the word of his God). Abi, ki le ni mo wi? (Dont you all agree with me?)" Dammy spoke, rolling her eyeballs to other girls in the room.
"Ah! Bible brother! You can't even do without copulating with a man in a day. Tell me, how do you intend to control your urges? Liz, I promise you, you will definitely faint before your wedding night...like you will be so dry, people will be asking you about yourself!" Tiffany emphasized more.
"Yes! Liz? Church brother? You! The greatest cat! (Pidgin English)The brother wey go button his shirt reach neck no fit you! Even, you wont see a strand of his chest hair. So, it's better to know what you are trying to hit now o." Abbey added vigorously.
What is wrong with you girls? When did i follow her to church? Did i even say I will follow her to church? Why are you misunderstanding me? I can't and won't! What will i say is wrong with me?" Liz snapped.
"Okay. Well, thats more like it." Abbey said relieved of the shock.
"It's just that this girl has been talking to me about this her Jesus for a very long time. I dont know what is so special about this so called Jesus. And have spoken to her before that she should mingle with us, go out with us, carry big men so that all those her dry bones will at least receive flesh but she rejected me numerous times, saying she lacks nothing, her parents are rich." Liz uttered, emphatically.
"L'omo bi ara gbigbe yen(That lean girl). She is lacking a lot! She doesn't know that there is something bigger that these men give us aside money! Sio!(Rubbish!)" Abbey hissed.
"And did you say she had a swollen face this morning?? Dark circles...swollen hands?" Chisom asked curiously.
"Yes o. She said it was because she read throughout the night." Liz hissed. "What arrogance!"
"She read throughout the night?" Chisom smirked, twisting her nose. "Or she is pregnant!" Chisom concluded.
"Ah! Chisom! What pregnancy? What is it?" Tiffany uttered sharply.
"Shut up! What is what? Is she a stone that she can't get pregnant?" Liz spat at Tiffany. "Chisom, it is true o. And i sensed it. Yes, i think so. She must be pregnant." Liz responded Chisom.
"Liz, but it was you that reported to us that she told you she is a virgin. May i ask you this question? Can virgins get pregnant? Besides, her swollen face and hands doesnt t mean that." Tiffany defended.
"Yes, you are right, she can't be pregnant. She told me her status before." Liz agreed with Tiffany, disengaging from Chisom with immediate effect.
"Dont be a fool. Can be paste on people's faces? Okay o. Let her be lying to you there. So, you people are this gullible? Even I can tell you that i am a virgin too." Chisom said.
"Eh!" Dammy exclaimed.
"Vir... what? (Pidgin English)Thunder fire your mouth for there!(You liar!)" Liz attacked. "Author's Note: Thanks for reading the first chapter of "Eve's Mentality!" I hope you enjoyed it and will continue reading
