Hunter
"Down." Colin eyes the whole line before making eye contact with me.
"Set." He says slowly, still looking around the line.
"Hut." He says immediately standing up and looking around the field. I run as two guys are on my back. I look over my shoulder and make eye contact with Colin. He nods his head before throwing a perfect spiral. I immediately jump and catch it midair. I didn't get far with the ball before I felt pressure collide with my side causing both of us to fall.
"What the hell, that was a lousy move." I get up my race growing red due to my anger. I give Luke a light push and the smirk on his face gets bigger. Usually my temper isn't bad but during football it gets bad. Especially when Luke decides to mess with me.
"Chill out Hunter, I'm just playing the game." Luke chuckles. I roll my eyes as our coach walks up to the both of us.
"Hunter, Luke, today can you guys at least try to get along. It isn't good for the team. You guys are captains, start acting like it." He says, shaking his head with disbelief.
"Everyone take a knee." Coach turns around facing the other players. We all obey and circle around him on our knees. The guys from the side line also come over taking a knee.
"We are getting a new coach, who will be the new head coach." Coach Davis says reading off his clipboard.
"He's coached Alabama helping them win the national championship in 2020. Now you are meeting him today so I want you all to be on your best behavior." I rolled my eyes at the last sentence. Telling a bunch of adults to behave isn't what we want to hear. I looked around the team and about half of them were also rolling their eyes.
"Alright coach Jones, please come out." Coach David says loudly. From across the field a tall bald guy walks towards us. As he comes closer he's already dressed in our Michigan Merch.
"This is Coach Jones, our new head coach here at Michigan." He announces proudly. They do a handshake before turning to us.
"Hi guys, I know getting new coaches isn't your favorite thing but I'm going to need you to trust me. I'm here to help you guys, I have seen your tapes. You all have room for improvement which is why I am here." He kept talking but I stopped listening. I didn't intend to but I just started off into space.
After maybe ten minutes Coach Davis claps his hands gaining my attention.
"You guys are free to go, tomorrow you guys have don't have practice so I better see all of your asses signed into the weight room. Sunday I better see you bright and early. Our first game is in two weeks and I want a win." He says dismissing us. The coaches leave and the second they do the team starts talking like crazy. I didn't bother to participate. I got right up and walked to the locker room.
"You good?" Colin asked, putting an around me in a brotherly manner.
"Yep." I didn't know what was up with me today. I wasn't playing my best and it was definitely noticeable.
"Are you sure, since school started you've been kinda out of it." This time there was concern in his voice. School started a month ago I'm not sure what he means though.
"I'm fine really, just been busy with school and football." I give him a reassuring look as I open the locker room doors. Our lockers were right next to each and we began getting ready to leave. Other team members start coming in still talking about the coaches.
"I just don't get it, I mean we are fine without Coach jones. He wins one national championship and suddenly he knows everything." Max our best defense man says. He gets a few nods from other players.
