Where am I? I slowly get up in the dark and stretch my arms. The smell of wet rock and a faint hint of moss lingers in the air. Oh yeah. That's right, I'm in a cave. I look around and begin to walk out towards the bit of moonlight shining in through the cave opening, my long red dress flowing loosely along as I walk. I admire the night sky for a little longer before I begin to run. The sun will rise soon, and I need to cross quite the distance still.

My name is Ethelene Wolf, but just call me Ethel. I'm a hybrid, and not the regular kind either. No, I'm what they call a super hybrid. I'm average height and slim build, with pale skin, long reddish-brown hair that hangs loosely just below my hips. My eyes are one of the more unusual things about me. I have some control over what they look like. When I'm around humans I keep it a natural brown colour usually and but when I'm not hiding my eyes are a deep pinkish red like a trapiche ruby the rest of the time. I stop and look up at the moon. Sometimes after turning on a full moon, I don't always remember everything I did or saw while I was a wolf and yeah, part of me being a super hybrid means I'm part werewolf but apparently since I'm still young my control will still get better. While the other part of me is more like a vampire, I'm not at all like your typical vampire that needs human blood in order to survive. Human blood doesn't help me much and although I can sustain my hunger and keep up my strength by eating lots of red meat, my main source of energy and the only thing that truly satiates my hunger is vampire blood.

I look down at the note I had tied around my wrist, then untie and open it. It simply read -SC Boarding- SC standing for Supernatural Creatures, but the full name is only known to the supernatural who know of it, then to the rest of the world the SC simply stands for Sill Crest, named after the family who originally settled on the land way back with some of the first settlements. I guess they have an odd sense of humour when it comes to their name or something though. In the moonlight and thanks to my enhanced eyesight I can see the map faintly highlighted in the paper itself, something only a microscope would show in the right lighting. My mother left me this note. It's the only thing she left with me before she and my father disappeared and left me alone in this world to fend for myself at only 13 years old...

Tomorrow I turn 17 and I think I'm ready to go to that place and see what it has to offer. Although I blend in more easily with humans. I still occasionally have trouble with hunters and so-called supernatural collectors trying to get me. So, I move around far too much. I fold the note and tie it around my wrist again. "I hope this is the right choice..." I sigh bowing my head before I shake my head, look ahead, and start running north again towards my destination. They may have abandoned me, but my parents at least taught me a lot about how to survive before they did. At least it's something to be thankful for, I guess. But I don't linger on those thoughts, I must keep going. It's all I have left now.

A day of running and I would have to rest soon. It was getting dark now again, so I slowed down a bit. I really loved the night. I'm lucky that, for the most part at least, my path has been through wilderness with only a few small towns here and there that I had simply run around to avoid having to slow down too much. As I walked slowly on, I found a small river and decided to stop and just sit there for a bit. As I got closer, I looked at my reflection in the water, my eyes shining brightly, even in the dark. Proving my status as a predator of the night. I sat down and dipped my hand in the water, feeling how soothing the slow current felt as the water flowed around my hand and through my fingers. I stood up and swiftly turned around to investigate the trees just ahead of me where I heard the snap of a twig and the crunching of leaves. Suddenly I felt a pain shoot through my left arm. I've been shot! I really didn't feel like this right now. I roll my eyes and give a low growl out of frustration and hiss into the air. Instead of fighting back I turned around and started running again, continuing to my destination. All I can hear is a few men start running in pursuit while screaming at me and one another while still shooting, but luckily all missing me. This is definitely a group of local hunters from the last town I passed not too far back. With my speed and agility, I quickly lost them and decided to just run the rest of the way to the place instead. I could have easily taken them all down, but I don't like to get into any unnecessary fights, especially with hunters... I checked my arm to see it had already healed, but noticed my note was gone. It must have fallen off after I'd been shot. I frown. Oh well, no time to worry about a note though. I know where I'm going. I shift my focus back ahead of me. Now I just have to get there...
