Dominique's Pov
I looked up at Zakari before thinking whether or not I should dodge her question. I looked to where Aaron was standing, just to see him nowhere in sight, and everyone else gone.
"Aaron and his messy ass," I mumbled to myself.
I shook my head up and down before being pulled back upstairs, into the room. "Wait here," Zakari instructed me, I didn't think to move since I didn't really know what was going to happen.
After a few minutes she came back, this time with her daughter in hand. She sat on the couch beside me, while I just stared. Not necessarily in confusion or amazement, just staring.
She has tattoos now, longer hair, and her daughter was adorable. If only she were ours.
"What's his name?" My thoughts were interrupted.
"Kingston," I uttered lowly, not wanting to talk about him. I mean I haven't seen her in years, and I definitely don't want this to be our first conversation.
My phone vibrated which kind of diverted my attention.
"So what's his last name?" she slightly turned her head with one eyebrow raised. I love when she does that.
"Um," I honestly didn't know, or at least couldn't think of it at the moment. "Does it matter? Why do we have to talk about him?" She got up from the couch, not answering my question and walked out the room.
I unlocked my phone after hearing and feeling more vibrating. I saw it was Kingston, Laemoni, and Tyler blowing my phone up.
I didn't like nor want any of them, let alone want to talk to them since Zakari was back. I quickly blocked all of them before texting Kingston.
Me: I don't want to be together anymore.
King: Where is this coming from?
Me: It's obviously coming from me.
King: Why?
Me: What I said was pretty straightforward.
King: Over the phone though?
I blocked him, hearing the door to the room open and close. He was asking dumb questions, with even dumber responses.
I texted my aunt about a matter before I heard the room door.
I looked up, seeing Zakari make her way to the couch, and next to me. This time without Mariah. "So what do you want to talk about?"
"What's her name?" I blurted. "Mariah?" I rolled my eyes at her, "I know your daughter's name." She nodded slowly, looking away from my gaze.
"Usually I'd do that," I thought to myself.
"Her name is Siara," she stated, making direct eye contact. That's when I started to become confused which Zakari quickly picked up on. "Siara is trans..."
"How'd y'all meet?"
"She was my roommate."
"And then they were roomates," I thought to myself with a chuckle. "Why'd you stop calling?" I asked with an obvious attitude.
"Calling goes both ways, Dom," her eyes narrowed at me.
"But you stopped."
"And you didn't?" She asked with both eyebrows raised.
"I'm sorry I didn't want to annoy you." I sarcastically stated with my arms crossed, and a mug plastered expression.
"If that's what you thought, how is it my fault for not calling?" Her face scrunched up and so did mine. I got up to leave, not wanting or having an answer. She was making good points that I couldn't rebuttal.
Plus it hasn't even been twenty minutes, and we are somehow arguing.
"Why is it that you always leave?" I stopped moving, trying to process what I just heard.
"I leave? Me?" I turned towards her, confused. "Yeah because I was the one who didn't bother to tell anyone about going to college? Shit, even leaving for four years let alone having a child? That was me?" I pointed to myself, "Or was it you?" I then pointed to her.
She scoffed and rolled her eyes at me once again, and walked to me. "Yes. Yeah it was me, but I wasn't the one talking to Laemoni and lying about it. Not to mention Tyler."
She paused, stopping in front of me, "And last time I checked everyone knows my 'secrets' unlike yours." She air quoted before pushing past me.
"Is that so?" I questioned, watching her open and turn the door knob.
"Yeah, since your a secret mommy."
