Thomas makes it to the top of the pit, The night sky still looms over the yellowish terrain. Thomas looks around, the masked creature is nowhere in sight, in fact he sees nothing for miles but the stretching land. Thomas marches onward into this new and treacherous land, still wounded from the fall, which slowed down his progress. After traveling for about 4 mile Thomas reaches a small abandoned looking hut, the only structure he has seen thus far on his journey. Thomas decides to rest in the cabin as he is worn out, all there is in the cabin is a dusty chest, and a makeshift bed. After resting for several hours Thomas gets up and his curiosity peaks, he opens the chest to find a journal and a pocket knife. He takes both with him, but does not read the journal as he does not want to infringe on the writer's privacy. Thomas travels for another 2 miles before reaching a forest of tall dark trees, the likes of which he had never seen before. He enters this dark forest with his lantern in one hand and the knife in the other, Thomas was starting to get hungry and was desperate for food. Suddenly a giant snake with centipede legs lunges out of the brush at him. Thomas swings the lantern and hits the snake-like creature with a satisfying thud, before the creature could get up, Thomas stabbed the snake through its skull killing it instantly. Thomas' stomach growls, he knows what he has to do, but is disgusted by it. Thomas eats the creature, and with that he lost a little bit of his humanity.
