After working from 5 a.m until 12, Quinn told us we could take an hour and a half lunch break. So what did I do? I finally was able to call the guy who I gave my number to about a month ago. He had called multiple times before and we had agreed to go on at least 10 dates. I had to cancel every date because I was busy working. I am pretty sure he thinks I am lying by now because I can not tell him WHAT my job actually is. The struggles of being an NCIS agent am I right?
Mason called one of his 'friends with benefits' so we all knew where he was headed. And Drake called his girlfriend and planned a surprise picnic for the two of them. That is what I want!
After saying bye to Drake and wishing him good luck with his picnic I dialed up Jerald.
"Jerald I am surprised you picked up"
"Wow Grace it is actually you calling this time! Is this my lucky day or what?"
"Haha so do you have the day off"
"Well yea it is Saturday" Jerald said like everyone has Saturday off.
"Well some people work on Saturday LIKE ME, but I have a lunch break for the next hour so do you want to meet up at Komi in DC."
"Yea but It'll take like 15 minutes for me to get there"
"Alright I'll see you there"
FINALLY A DATE FOR ME! I mentally shouted, actually doing something I wanted to do in my day. Not that I HATE working, Its just non-stop everyday and it truly does limit the social life that you are able to have, it limits your sleep and rest, and EVERYONE in their right minds need a break at some point.
I ran down (actually using the stairs for once) to the parking garage and hopped in my car as fast as a possibly could. If only I could be this energetic while on the job! I might actually be able to be up at Quinn's levels and standards that she has!
I got there in less than five minutes since the NCIS offices are pretty close to the heart of Washington DC. I put my name on the list that they had and they told be it would only be a 10 minute wait for a table, which was perfect because then Jerald would be right on time.
I basically just sat down in the waiting room by myself and waited. After about 3 minutes of waiting, much to my utter shock, Mason was standing right in the doorway with a little older than middle-aged women. What a damn small world we live in. Honestly I can never get away from work. So of course I tried to hide in the corner so he didn't see me. And instead I managed to trip over a chair and land right on my butt in the middle of the waiting area.
That was when Mason noticed me.
"Gracieeee" Mason said obviously surprised and angered to see me as well. The women with him nudged him clearly trying to get him to introduce her to his work 'friend'. "Mom, this is Grace Frendrick. Grace this is my mom."
I had to hold back my extreme laughter trying to escape from me at that moment. Mason had always MADE sure that none of us could meet his family. He always told us that he tried to keep that life separate.
"Nice to meet you" was all I could mutter out while still holding back the laughter. We shook hands and that was when I noticed Jerald was walking in.
I said bye to Mason and his Mom and ran over to get Jerald, hoping that I could still enjoy my little time off that I get.
"Well well well Gracie, you got to meet my guest now let me meet yours" Mason rudely interrupted.
"Mason, this is Jerald. Jerald this is Mason a friend from work" I said almost choking over the word friend.
"And who is Jerald to you Gracie?" Mason asked clearly trying to annoy and get a reaction out of me.
"Jerald is my date so can you just leave it alone" I answered obviously pleasing Mason with my reaction.
"Grace" the hostess yelled out FINALLY saving me from Mason and his constant questions.
As we walked up to the hostess Mason had to add "UNTIL NEXT TIME MY SWEET GRACIE!" just to annoy me and especially Jerald.
"I am really sorry for him" I said to Jerald.
"So you said he is from your work"
"Sadly yes" I answered.
"I honestly feel for you Grace"
"Thanks but he can keep good company in our long nights" I told him trying to lighten up the mood a bit.
"Well at least he has a good quality. So why did you pick this restaurant?" Jerald asked evidently trying to change the topic.
"It was close to work and I have had it before and have truly fallen in love with this place"
"And you still can't tell me where you work" Jerald asked as we sat down at our table.
"Nope, I just can't" I answered.
After that we just talked and talked until our meals came. Jerald is a nice and extremely funny guy, which honestly sometimes makes me wish I had a different job and can do stuff like this more often. It also would make talking about work a lot more fun.
Overall, my meal was AWESOME and he noticeably enjoyed his, cleaning his whole entire plate of food. We never stopped talking, we just had so many things in common. We finished our meals and got our check in about 30 minutes.
"I got it" Jerald said grabbing the check and putting his credit in. Chivalry is not dead my people!
"So how'd you like the restaurant" I asked, knowing his answer already.
"We should make this our spot to always come and just hang."
"As often as possible" I said as our waiter came and grabbed our check to go and run the credit card.
"Well I had a great time. Hopefully we can do this many more times in the future." Jerald said as the waiter came back with the check.
After signing and writing out tip the good time had to come to an end, as we both got up and headed to our cars.
"Make sure you call again" Jerald said jokingly.
"Be sure to wait patiently" I joked back as I got into my car, noticing Mason getting in his car with is mom in the parking spot across from me.
We said our goodbyes and I went back on my way to the office to finish another long day. Hopefully we won't have to pull an all nighter!
I got back to the office 15 minutes early and Drake was already there.
"So how'd your picnic go" I asked.
"It was perfect actually, she had to get back to NSA quickly though."
"I went on a date, and it was wonderful. You are lucky you can tell eachother your jobs" I shared with him.
"Ah the little luxuries of life" Drake said as Mason walked in. "So what'd you do Mason?" Drake asked.
"Why don't you just ask Grace" Mason answered as Drake gave me a questioning glare.
"We both went to the same restaurant. Mason spent his time with his mom"
Through laughter Drake said "no fair you got to meet his mom."
That was when Quinn walked in and everything went quiet. "ALRIGHT YOU HAD YOUR BREAK. ITS TIME TO START WORK AGAIN! WE ARE GONNA PULL AN ALL NIGHTER, THE COFFEE MACHINE IS FILLED. NOW GET TO WORK." Quinn yelled.
So that started another long day and all nighter of work. NCIS really does stick to their motto less sleep:more gain!
