The place that the locals called Sanctuary was deserted. Plague had to admit that the place felt creepy, but mainly because of the haunting feeling that something might've happened to its inhabitants. Where were they? Where was Mothy? Had he simply missed them or... or had something else happened?
The cobalt blue domed-rooved buildings were made of cold grey clay and showed no signs of life. Not even blood stains from the battle that was said to have recently occured. Was Plague too late? If he was, by how long?
But maybe he wasn't. On the coast of the location was a woman wearing a deep yellow-gold set of armour with her black hair tied into bangs at the front and braided on top. She was stood beside a boat, hauling what appeared to be a camo-print suitcase into a motorboat before getting into it herself. Wait - what was Plague doing? He needed to catch her!
"Excuse me?! Wait!" Plague shouted.
The woman looked up at Plague from her boat, leaning on its edge, "Oh, hello."
Plague twiddled his things as he began to ask, "Hey, um, do you know if-?"
"Do I know you?" the woman interrupted, "You look familiar. You sound familiar. It's uncanny."
"I don't think you do. But you might know my brother..." Plague suggested.
"Oh! Mothy, yes." the woman nodded, suddenly knowing.
Plague tilted his head, "Did he talk about me?"
"No." the woman shook her head, "I just recognised the style."
"Ah. I'm Plague, by the way." Plague prompted her to reply with a similar thing.
"I'm Shanta. It's good to meet you." Shanta smiled and waved smoothly.
Plague wondered if Shanta would take Plague to his younger brother or if she'd just leave him. He didn't really know her and she might've been more secretive about what was going on than he assumed she would. He didn't even really know what was going on; he needed to see if he could tease information or an allowance to join her out of her.
"So where are you going?" Plague asked.
"Under the giant statue, it's where we're hiding out. I know that you want to come, so I won't even ask." Shanta gestured for him to join her in the boat.
A smart one. Plague was all for it. He hopped into one of the boat's back seats as Shanta twisted a key and the boat started to drive onwards. Plague crossed his legs as the salty spray flecked his dark plague doctor's uniform and Shanta's gold armour.

Mothy sat alone in his room. He didn't want to do anything. Without Skye... it didn't matter. Nothing mattered without her, it almost felt like the world had stopped.
The room could've been decorated at any point. The walls, ceiling and floor were the same as the ones at Sanctuary. Nothing unique. The bed didn't even have a duvet, instead it lay bare and cold like Mothy himself.
There was a knock at the door.
Mothy instinctively went to answer it, "Oh, hello Scientist."
"Hey, Mothy." Scientist sighed, "I have a suprise for you. Would you like that?"
Mothy mumbled, "Like an invention?"
"No, it's a person who's come to see you." the Scientist patted Mothy on the shoulder and gently pushed him towards the door.
"Skye?" Mothy perked his head up.
The Scientist looked at the ground silently. Had Mothy said something? He felt bad, but he didn't know if he needed to. The Scientist made a quick sniffing sound and then looked up at Mothy as he continued to push him.
"It's not Skye." the Scientist shook his head slowly.
"Oh." Mothy mumbled.
The Scientist spoke up, "I'm sorry, but I'm sure that you'll be as happy to see this person as her."
"I don't know..."
"Mothy?"
He was dressed all in black apart from the dirty, leather brown apron he wore. The man's helmet reminded Mothy of his own, but it was that of a bird's. A crow, maybe. Crows were often associated with death, and wouldn't be too out of place on the plague doctor. It was Mothy's brother Plague, after all.
Mothy ran up and hugged his brother and maybe that hug was followed by a sudden jolt, but it only meant that he hadn't been expecting it. In a way, that was even better. And then Mothy started to cry silently. Nobody would know that he was, but he was and it felt good. Like a warm hug. Although that might've been just because Plague was giving him a hug.
Mothy sniffed happily, "Come on! I'll show you around!"
"Of course." Plague nodded.
