Surviving Summer <3 | Griff Temple

No pressure

"Boardriders is a team event guys, so I need you to all support each other this week all right? Guys it is a Boardriders Battle, so we need someone to lead us into Beattie", Manu said to us.

"I'll do it. I'll be the Capitan", Marlon raise his hand.
"Ah, yeah right. What are you qualified?", Ari ask him.
"I know how the other team surf. And my State ranking are better than yours", Marlon reply.
"And mine are better than yours", Poppy add.
"Ah look Marlon, I appreciate the enthusiasm but I'm going to make Poppy capitan", Manu said.
"All right, let's go train", Poppy said and we walk after her.

We were on the beach make our surfboard with wax.

"Boardriders doesn't go towards your state rankings?", Summer ask.
"Nope, and we get to surf as a team, not against each other like normal", Bodhi reply.
"So I can compete and not destroy anybody's career/life?", Summer ask.
"I'm sorry Summer but you're still not comp standard. And there's not really a place for you anyway", Poppy said.
"Come on Pops, Summer's improved a lot. I'll be fun", i said.
"Yeah, and who doesn't love some fun? Come on Poppy, you're not going to leave me hanging are you?", Summer add.
"Fine, you can be sub", Poppy replied.
"Wohooo", she scream and we run into the water.

After surfing.

"What is happening out there? You're letting Summer psych you out", Poppy shouted.
"The waves just didn't come my way", i said.
"You could have sackered Summer big time. You know those annoying lefts that look sick", she said.
"Of course I do", i replied.
"So use them make it looks like it's an amazing wave", she said.
"I will use them when you will not be angry", i replied and we get back home.

"So instead of say a doctor, a parent or any kind of responsibile adult, you talk to Manu", I heard Summer said to Ari.
"He's my coach, he's perfect person to tell", Ari said and i Walt toward them.
"To tell what?", I ask them.
"Umm...", Ari mumbled,
"That he has panic attack before competition", Summer said.
"Hey, this is private", Ari shouted.
"Dude she's my best friend", Summer add.
"Oh, I had something like that before a competition", i said.
"Wait really? And how you stop them?", Ari ask.
"Breath traning, and that really helped", i replied.
"See told ya", Ari mumbled to Summer.

I was skating with Summer and then randomly we heard a scream and we turned back to see what is it. We saw Poppy screaming.

"What are you doing?", I ask Poppy.
"This is another one of your drills?", Summer ask her.
"I miss mum, so much", she said and we hugged her.
"I want to give it a try", Summer said.
"Yea me too", i add and we get up and scream

Morning at the comp.

"How about you boys, ready for represent for Shorehaven?", I ask Ari and Marlon.
"Does this answered your question?", Marlon said and Ari throw a benner.
"It's upside down and we made that, losers", i replied.

"Hi everyone, hey Jackson Bay, hey Anchor Cove. Just want to say a few words before we kick off", Manu said and start to talk in another language. "Hey everyone. Just a behalf of the Shorehaven Boardriders, I just want to say welcome. Kia Ona, and it's lovely to have you guys here. Now, a lot of you knew Laynah Tetanui who was our Club president for many years. But more importantly... she was our mother", Manu said and a few tears drop from my eyes.
"Are you crying Isa?", Bodhi ask me.
"No.. you are", I said. Then Manu start crying too. "I just wanna say have an amazing day today, guys. And we're going to wax ya", prawnie add.

"Tetanui chasing her first score. Oh, I'm not sure she didn't make that one", commentator said. "Anchor Cove's Griff Temple making the most of struck wave here. Oh laser precision in that top turn. And that's a 7.9 for Temple's last effort", the commentator add.

"He's pretty good", i said to Poppy.
"Stop looking at him, you will fall for him", Poppy said and put her hand on my eyes.

A little pause after first round.

"So sick bro!, They had nothing!", Ari said to Marlon.
"Ok guys. Second round draw's looking a bit easier. Making the final is totally doable", i said walking next to Marlon then I saw Griff coming toward us.
"Hey Pops", Griff said.
"What do you want Griff?" Poppy replied.
"I just wanted to say I'm sorry your mum's not here to see this. She was super cool", he said.
"Hey thanks",  Poppy answered.
"And ya, you look great in the water. I mean your surfing", he said towards me.
"Thanks Griff", i replied and I smile.
"And bro, when the oldies at Anchor Cove take this long to make a decision, it's usually a no, just in case you were getting your hopes up", he said towards Marlon and leave.

"So I had a meeting with them. No biggie", Marlon said.
"No biggie?", Poppy ask.
"Yeah, why wolf you want to surf with those garbage humans?", Summer ask.
"More resources, more support. As if you guys haven't thought about it", Marlon answered.
"No we didn't", i said.
"don't get involved in this you just started surfing with us, you barely know us", Marlon replied angrily.
"Don't say that about Isa. She's one of us now", Poppy replied and hold my hand.
"Shorehaven is a family. Where's your loyalty?" Poppy ask and he just turned around and we leave.

I went for a walk on the beach and when I get back I saw Summer runing towards water for surfing.

"Summer and Griff? What did I lose?", I ask.
"Marlon disappear", Poppy said.
"Oh my god, that makes me very excited", i said looking at Summer and Griff.

"Here we go. At least a little ripple on two. And he takes it. Oh. It gives him absolutely nothing" the commentator said.

"Oh hell na, did she just fool him? Stupid boy", i said smiling.
"Hey Griff doesn't have time to catch another wave", Manu said.
"Yeah but she still need a 2.3", Ari said.
"Summer can do that", i replied.

She beat Griff and Shorehaven win.
