It was the early hours of the morning and the two boys were aimlessly wandering around in the city. They were both hungry and tired.
Eni saw a small motel while they were walking and thought that this could be a good place to stay for a while. So they decided to go there.
Arlo was skeptical about this motel, it seemed too quiet to him and all he wanted was to go back home. Eni insisted they go inside and get a room and so they did. As they walked up to the reception a tired mostly young man could be found behind the desk.
"Excuse me..sir? We'd like a room for a while"
Eni said in hopes that the man would let them stay, at least to rest. The man looked down at the two, clearly wondering what they were up to on this hour.
"Look kid we don't have a lot of rooms. People rarely come to rest here but the rooms still are in decent condition. So if you want a room here"
He looked across the wall behind him and gave them a key for a room. He wanted to ask them more questions about why they came here but decided to let them rest. The two boys found the room and walked inside quickly flopping down on the bed and falling asleep almost instantly. It was the first time in days Eni had a peaceful sleep...
Some hours later Arlo woke up from the sound of scratching. The room was pitch black and because of them being too tired to look around before he didn't know where the light switch was. He looked around trying to adjust his eyes in the darkness but with no avail. Then he realised that Eni wasn't sleeping near him and started worrying.
"Eni? Whatever you're up to it's not funny.."
The boy said and felt that this alone somehow made the situation worse because the scratching had completely stopped. A hand could be felt on his arm and that made Arlo pull away but to no avail.
"f..ood.."
That was all Arlo needed to hear to realise that Eni was just hungry. But his thoughts came to a halt when the boy pulled his arm again this time Arlo couldn't react fast enough but he was able to hold Eni's hair in order to stop him. His eyes adjusted and that's when he saw him.
Eni had almost bitten Arlo to satisfy his hunger and that made it ten times more awkward knowing now that he had been caught. He tried to snap out of this urge and looked at his now worried friend. Arlo was looking at him and that made Eni completely snap out of it. He fell to the ground, apologizing for what happened but Arlo didn't want to hear any of it.
"Just...what the fuck were you doing?"
These words alone made Eni understand that he was in trouble and he quickly tried to find a way to get out of this situation but Arlo didn't let go of him that easily. He told him to sit down and explain.
"I... I just.. Arlo I just wanted to-"
The boy stopped talking and stayed quiet again. Arlo helped him get up and hugged him.
"Hey.. it's alright.. I understand that you have the virus but I don't know why you have this behaviour. Let's just go get something to eat dummy."
"...yeah.. eating would be nice.."
Eni couldn't help but feel safe around Arlo. He felt like they both understood eachother and that he wasn't alone anymore. He had a real friend.
