Chapter 47 Prized Possession
"M-madam . . ." I saw Kleya slowly opening the doors of my office. I looked at her with unknown emotions in my eyes.
She lifelessly walked towards me and stopped when she faced my desk. "U-update." She said and breathed heavily before continuing. "T-the culprit is now in the authority's hands."
I let out a sigh but I didn't take my eyes off of my cousin. She looked away and then I saw stray tears streaming down her face. I immediately ran towards her and hugged her. She cried heavily and her knees seemed to be weak.
"It's not your fault. I don't hate you." I mumbled repeatedly while wiping my own twtars away.
Kleya cried and buried her face on my shoulder. "I understand if you want to fire me—"
"I don't." I said, reassuring her. "I don't and will not!"
"A-andrei's location is still unknown. H-he planned all of this and it was my father who did the action." Kleya said, sobbing.
Of all the emotions that I'm feeling right now, anger and disappointment are the strongest. It made my head ached so bad that my forehead started producing beads of sweat. My heart ached too because I thought they were my family. I gave then a second chance but they still didn't learn!
"Kleya, it's not your fault and I'm not mad at you." I stated, reassuring her. She nodded her head slowly but pain was still evident in her eyes. "I'm going to meet with Jia my lawyer today. If anyone asks about me, just say I'm busy and won't be entertaining them for now."
Kleya nodded her head once again before letting out a huge sigh and a smile afterwards. "Yes, Madam."
I smiled before grabbing my car keys and other essentials. I walked out of my office and went straight to the parking lot to get my car then drove to the mall where I'll be meeting Jia.
"Andrei's location is tracked. The authorities are chasing him. Your uncle will be put in jail but the money is on Andrei's hands." Jia stated.
I gasped before massaging my forehead. This is so stressful for me. I held my tummy and caressed it gently to help me calm down and remind me that I have a life inside of me.
"(Y/N)," Jia mumbled before holding my hand. "I know this is hard for you but I'm sure you'll win this."
I nodded my head before sighing. "I will take care of the board members. They're getting suspicious of me. They must've thought that I'm the one stealing the money."
"I'm sure they'll get to their knees apologizing when you proved your innocence." She chuckled. "Anyways, I'll update you as soon as possible. Thank you for meeting me here."
"Thank you, Jia." I said and smiled.
After the short meeting, I went straight to the restroom to retouch my huggard and stressed face. There's no one inside the restroom other than me and it made me even more comfortable.
