Chapter 9: Guilt

Theresia's POV

Anton invited me out today to talk about some topics with him. I decided to come because Leonor is still at work and my conscience couldn't handle leaving that man waiting for my presence.

After I got ready, he texted me that he was outside already waiting for me so I rushed out to see him. "Antonio!" I shouted and he waved at me with a smile. He opened his car doors for me and assisted me to hop in.

He had a bruise near his mouth and I asked what happened. "I had a bruise dahil nag-surf ako and I accidentally hit my face with the board." He said.

"Buti pinayagan ka ni Leonor?" he asked me and I gulped the knot in my throat before responding. "Uhmmm... Actually, she doesn't know." I said and he laughed.

"Hindi pa rin nawala yung ugali mong ganyan. Still the same as college. I like that," Anton said and I scratched my nape as I laughed at his response.

"Remember the thing we talked about when we went sa Starbs?" he reminded me. "Oh! That... thing..." I said with my voice getting lower in volume as I spoke longer. "I-is everything alright?" he asked.

Starbucks in Hollywood Boulevard

"W-wag na lang siguro. May iba na akong pinagkaka-abalahan." I replied. He scoffed while shaking his head in disbelief. "Or you're being held back because of Leonor?" he asked. "No! Hindi naman..." I sighed.

"It's because of her, isn't it?" he repeated again. "Leonor and Pia doesn't want it. Okay?" I finally admitted.

"See. I knew it. Just because you're married, it doesn't mean that you'll let them take control of your life already, Sasa. Ikaw pa rin ang may control dyan." Anton said as he caressed my hands and I smiled nervously.

"Come on, Sa. You've been wanting that since college! Now that you have the abilities to start it up, why not try it?"

"Then what am I supposed to do?"

"Start your business. Tulungan kita. I have some friends who can help too. G ka ba?" he asked and I nodded.

"But you'll have to fly back to Manila to settle the property and papers." he said and my mind filled up with doubts.

"That means... Leonor needs to know?" I asked him and he gave me a neutral look. "Up to you kung pati yun itatago mo. After all, kapag tinuloy mo, she'll know kasi you'll be managing something." he said.

Anton has the point pero talagang ikakagalit 'to ng asawa ko. Including Pia. Lalong umayaw si Leonor after she knew about how my sister didn't want it for me too. Kaso, nandito na.

I've been wanting this.

"Ah.. Oo naman. Everything's fine!" I smiled at him and he did back to me too. "Ang ganda pa rin ng ngiti mo," he said as his eyes roamed all over my face. "Ano?"

"If I heard it right that you said my smile's pretty, si Leonor kasi ang rason kaya ganun."

"Yeahh.. Yeahh.. Leonor." he said. "Only Pia and one of my friend knows about this, Anton. Wala nang iba." I reminded him and he nodded. "Don't worry, no one else will know."

Suddenly, I saw Leila near the cashier. "Ate!" I shouted and she looked behind her first then to my direction. I waved so that she can see me and she did. "Huy! Anong ginagawa mo rito?" she asked as she came closer to me.
