Chapter 11: Words of an Unaware

Leonor's POV

I arrived home earlier than usual and ran to see my wife. The only one I look forward to every day. "Loveee!! I'm home na!" I shouted and saw her in the kitchen bar drinking. Her eyes withdrew tears. "Oh? Hala. Bakit ka umiiyak?" I patted her back.

She quickly wiped her eyes and nose. "Oh! You're home na pala. Aga mo." "Come on, Pangga. Do not pretend like I didn't see anything." I placed my bag on the table to sit beside her and hug my wife. "You're drinking. Tell me, what's wrong?"

"W-wala. Nag-ooverthink lang ako kanina. I got carried away by the scenarios in my head." she said, still while sniffing. "Then, ano in-ooverthink mo? Share mo sa akin."

"Na what if nagkaroon ako ng kasalanan sayo. Hihiwalayan mo ba ako?" she said with very sad eyes to which made me confused.

"Ha? Bakit naman ganyan naiisip mo? Is there something that I need to know?"

"Wala naman. In-overthink ko lang.."

"Mahal, listen ha. Listen carefully to what I'll say para manahimik na ang utak mo sa pag-ooverthink." I said while tucking her hair behind her ears and she also nodded. So, I placed her head on my shoulder and held her hands tightly. I also took the beer bottle away from her.

"Ana Theresia, you know that I love you so much, diba? I love you more than anything in this world. I love you even more than anything I own. I love you more than myself."

"I married you because you're so special to me. You mean the world to me. I trust you so much in this world full of lies and doubts. You remain to clear my sight in every circumstances that blur my vision. I know you do the same, that's why you correct my wrongs. To be honest, I can not find the words to actually describe how much better my life is when I loved you and you loved me back."

"The first time I saw you, it was love that I saw. Until now, I still see you the same — the one I love."

"To have you as my wife is my greatest achievement. Susunod na yung maging magulang sa mga anak natin. Then soon, we'll achieve more things pa. Only the future knows whatever."

"So, whenever you make a mistake, I'm willing to hear your side. I'm willing to know and understand your reason. It's our nature as human beings to commit things we don't want to do because of our personal wants. I understand that."

"Ako kasi, sa buong buhay ko, alam kong puro mali ang nangyayari sa buhay ko. The only right one that's happened was when I had you in my arms already. So, kahit alam kong marami akong nagawang mali, you remind me na meron pa rin palang tama."

"I'm telling you this not just because I want to comfort you, but to also remind you about the way we really loved. I'm saying this because this is my truth. That whenever I lose my direction, I'll remember these when I'm on the verge of losing my self, since thinking of you brings back the reason in me."

Theresia started crying again and I felt her arms wrap around me.

"So kahit dumating yung araw na... you run out of love for me, which I hope na hindi mangyari, mamahalin pa rin naman kita. Hindi na mawawala 'to because your love is enough to last me forever. You might leave me, pero this love I have for you will never."

"At kung darating man yung araw na maging madilim sa paligid natin at pareho tayong mabulag sa katotohanan, we must find a way to help each other out. I wish you'd stay... I want nothing else but for you to stay."

"I love you so much. Hanggang ngayon, talagang I don't think enough ito to say it, pero I really do." I uttered as I kissed her forehead and caressed her shoulders.

"You'll still love me kahit na magkaroon ako ng kasalanan?" she asked.

"It depends. But I know that my feelings for you will never fade no matter how bad you hurt me. Engraved na 'to sa puso ko. I'll never stop feeling this way anymore."

"We made vows in front of the altar, facing our loved ones, and witnessed by millions. That, I'll make sure I'll make those true."

Her eyes were filled with anguish and despair as she expressed her feelings. I know she doesn't want to be in this situation, so I'm consoling her. I promised that I would dry her tears whenever they fell, and here I am, trying to reassure my wife.

Her eyes has always seen me through the bad and good. So, whenever her eyes looked like this, it makes me feel blue inside. Those eyes that saw the best in me, now filled with unsaid words. I really love her for the way she is. That means to include even her negatives. It's true when she said to me before na walang perpektong tao, but in my eyes, she always has been.

I choose not to seek her mistakes, but see how she'll bare it all with honesty and strength. I trust her with my whole life that she won't do anything that'll ruin our marriage.

"Ano bang kasalanan mo? May nagawa ka bang dapat kong malaman?" I asked.

"Ha? Wala!" she coughed. "Wala naman.. I just asked because yun yung ino-overthink ko kanina."

"Ah. Alright. I trust you that you won't do anything that'll put our marriage on stake at hindi mo naman ako sasaktan, tama? Kasi hindi ka naman ganung tao. I know you."

"Or tell me if someone's bothering you. No one can hurt you as long as I'm here." I told her and she shook her head with laughters.

"Tignan mo naman. Tatlong taon na tayong kasal. Apat na taon na tayong magkasama bago pa ikasal. Marami na tayong pinagdaanan, pero ito pa rin tayo. That's because we remain true." I combed her hair backwards.

"If there's no trust, it's not love. That's how I knew you were the one because I trust you a lot."

She might not be sober, but I wished she'd keep these in her mind.

"Mahal na mahal kita. You don't need to change a thing about you because I love you just the way you are." I told her.

"And you're always enough for me."
