A/N: So I saw Cinderella today and I love the song Lavender blue so much that I had decided to incorporate it into story. Oh and sorry that this ends so weird and that it is all so weird, i'm not very good at the beginnings of stories so just bear with me please.

-Astrid's POV-

Tino left me in my room to unpack.

My room was really big. It has a walk in closet, which I probably won't even use as a closet, and a bathroom too. The bed was below a window that was the exact same size. It was dark blue and had black curtains that were tied back on the side facing me and the sides. It had black throw pillows on it. The room was painted a dark blue. Good, I was afraid it might be painted white. I hate the color white with a passion. White and pink. Hate them. I set my suitcases on the bed and unzipped the one that had all my clothes. I quickly put them away in the closet, not taking up a lot of room because I don't have a lot of clothes. I opened my other suitcase, noticing that I had my teeth had stopped chattering but I was still shivering, and began to carefully take things out. My jewelry box, my favorite black blanket, my favorite panda stuffed animal, and last but not least, my music box.

My music box means a lot to me. It's shaped like a simple blue ball with a slot for a key in the top. It's a little bit smaller than my palm. It means so much to me because my mom gave it to me when I was a baby. She would always sing along to the song, Lavender Blue, right before she would kiss me goodnight. I won't lie, I miss my parents, a lot. More than ever now that I've been adopted.

There was a knock at the door and it opened a second later to reveal Mathias. He smiled at me, "Hey, dinner-time Astrid!"

I gave him a small smile and stuffed my music box in my pocket, getting up and following him downstairs. When we got downstairs everyone else was sitting at the table eating lasagna. I sat down in between Berwald and Lukas. We started eating silently until Mathias spoke up.

"So Astrid huh? I thought you were American how did you get a name like that?" He asked.

I pushed my food around my plate, "Well my mom used to travel to Norway and Sweden a lot so she liked the origin of the name, and then my Dad had a best friend named Astrid that died of cancer."

Tino smiled, "That's cool! Do you know Norwegian or Swedish?"

I nodded, "Yeah I grew up learning Swedish, Norwegian, and English. Then during the summer, I didn't have much to do, so I learned different languages." I said, "I know Spanish, French, Italian, Danish, Finnish, German, Chinese and Japanese. I don't use much else outside of English, Swedish, and Norwegian though."

"That's so cool!" Mathias said. Emil looked at me curiously.

"Do you know Icelandic?" He asked, cutting Mathias off.

I shook my head no and he simply nodded. We continued to eat while Peter began to ramble on and on about what he had done today. It was interesting I guess, every child's mind is to a certain extent. I didn't eat very much at dinner before I went back into my room and fell asleep from the jet lag.

"Huomenta!" I opened my eyes wearily to see Tino standing over me smiling as always. It's a good thing he has a nice smile because he smiles all the time.

"Good Morning." I yawned as I sat up.

"Breakfast downstairs in thirty minutes!" He said before ruffling my hair, giving me a kiss on the forehead and walking out of my room. I smiled, Tino is a really nice guy. I missed having a parental figure like this. Berwald's kinda scary looking, but i'm sure he is actually really nice. Peter is... well a kid basically.

I stood up and stretched before going into the bathroom and taking a shower. When I got out, I stood in front of my closet contemplating what to wear. I finally decided on a dark blue cami, a black sweater, and thick black jeans. I quickly changed then put my VCU jacket back on. I'll admit it, my VCU jacket is my security blanket. I tied my hair back with my usual green ribbon and put on some make-up. Not too much, just eyeliner on both of my water lines and mascara. I put on my boots and walked out of my room quickly. Apparently I went a little too quickly because I crashed into Emil ending up on the floor.

He looked down at me and I looked up in a slight daze. He held his hand out to help me up and I gladly accepted the offer stuttering that I was sorry for bumping into him. He just nodded and walked downstairs.

I frowned slightly, weird. I shrugged and walked downstairs and into the kitchen where everyone was moving around.

"Come on Tino! Could you not burn your food for once!" Mathias said as he stared sadly at the black pancake in front of him.

"Sorry!"

"Berwald, why did you let him cook!" Mathias complained.

"He got up early and snuck past me." Berwald said, "I'd cook some more but he used up all the mix. "

"Then what are we gonna have fore breakfast!" Denmark wailed, "It's the most important meal of the day"

"All we have is eggs, bacon, beef, and potatoes. Oh and also bread." Lukas said

"Okay. Eggs, bacon, and toast. Got that. What's the beef and potatoes for?" Denmark asked.

Tino glanced at me sheepishly as he laughed, "Well I was gonna make an american breakfast for Astrid to help her settle in."

I smiled at him, happy that he had thought of me.

Lukas looked at me curiously, "What do you guys eat in the mornings that have potatoes and beef in it?"

I smiled, "Corn-beef-hash!"

A.k.a. my favorite breakfast food ever.

"I was gonna make it but I kinda didn't get that far and i'm sure I would ruin it I tried. " Tino laughed.

"I could make breakfast if you'd like." I offered.

"No you just got here, you shouldn't have to." Tino said.

I shook my head, "No it's fine, I love to cook."

So I ended up cooking breakfast. It tasted really good actually, if I do say so myself.

"So what do you guys wanna do today?"

Peter jumped up happily, "I wanna ice skate!"

Everyone one at the table decided, why not, and our plan for the day was made.

We would go and ice skate in the frozen over pond in the backyard.
