Everything in a different language will come from google translator so if it is wrong please comment and tell me so :) well everything except for if there is any Spanish in the story, since i'm learning that so it should be correct.

-Emil's POV-

I watched Astrid carefully as she clutched onto Berwald's hand for dear life. They slid slowly over the ice, Astrid using my spare pare of skates since we had roughly the same shoe size. She couldn't skate, so Berwald was teaching her while Tino helped Peter. She seemed terrified and embarrassed. It was cute, I have to admit.

I skated lazily around the pond spinning around ever now and then, conscious of my brother whose eyes are always on me. He cares for me too much. I'm not a kid anymore, he can stop watching me and get a life of his own. Hopefully he'll stop being so thick headed and give the stupid Dane a chance.

"No don't let go!" I heard Astrid shriek/laugh as Berwald let go of her hand and skated a little ways in front of her. She skated forward awkwardly almost falling forward. Berwald gave her a little wave before skating over to Tino. She tried skating forward again and she almost fell, letting out a small panicked sound.

I skated closer to her and held out my hand which she gladly latched onto. I looked at her calmly.

"Left, "I moved my left foot forward slowly and she followed, "Right. " I repeated the process and soon we were going at a slow pace.

"W-What's that in Icelandic?" She asked.

I smiled, since she was interested in learning my language, "Vinstri, réttur. "

She tried to repeat it and stumbled a bit on the pronunciation. I repeated it slowly, by each syllable until she said it perfectly.

"Teach me s-something else." She chattered.

"Like?" I asked as I spun her around in a little circle making her smile.

"Colors!" She said enthusiastically.

"Okay well, red is rauður." She repeated it slowly, "Orange is appelsínugulur." We skated around Lukas who gave me a look, "Yellow is gulur. Green is grænt."

She repeated it and smiled, "I like that one."

"Blue is blár and purple is fjólublátt." I finished.

She stumbled on the last one but repeated it until it sounded correct, "Thanks Emil. Wait no, what is pink and what is white and how do you say something is hideous?"

I looked at her curiously, "Why?"

She huffed, "Here just how do you say, 'Pink and white are hideous.' in Icelandic?"

I gave a small laugh, "Bleikur og hvítur eru hideous."

She repeated the phrase, spitting it out as if it were a hideous curse. I let go of her hand and doubled over laughing. She started laughing too and ended up falling onto her butt with a thud.

Once we stopped laughing I held out a hand to help her up but when she tried to get up, she pulled me down with her. So we sat on the ice, laughing yet again over something that wasn't even all that funny while everyone else stared at us in confusion.

We went inside a couple hours later for a lunch break, with a promise to Peter that we would all come back outside to play in the snow later. Astrid walked next to me, her teeth chattering loudly, as she shivered violently. I looked at her and smirked, "Cold?"

She glared at me, "N-N-No i-i'm perfect-ly w-warm. I-I'm a-actually sweati-ng."

I chuckled, "Sure you are. "

We went inside and she stripped off her extra jacket hanging it up. Mathias, having gone in a couple minutes earlier popped his head though the kitchens doorway, "Hot Coco anyone?"

There came a chorus of "me's" one of them longer than the rest due to the chattering.

We sat down in front of the fire and Tino handed Astrid a quilt giving her a kiss on the forehead, "Can't have you getting a cold." she nodded in thanks.

Mathias came out with a tray of hot coco on it a second later, along with butter and cinnamon. Everyone grabbed a cup of hot coco, Lukas putting the butter into his and Tino putting cinnamon in his. He turned to Astrid and offered her the cinnamon, "Want some?"

She nodded and poured a generous amount into her cup, stirring it up with her finger. Lukas went into the kitchen and returned a couple minutes later with sandwiches. Astrid ate half of hers before asking Mathias if he wanted the other half. He, of course, said yes and Astrid gave it to him. Astrid curled up into Berwald, who previously had his arm wrapped around her to warm her up faster. She was soon sleeping peacefully, letting out little breaths through her mouth. It was quite cute. Berwald stroked her hair contently and I saw Peter in Tino's arms sleeping.

"Aw look at that! Ya'll are a cute lil' family." Mathias cooed quietly. He hauled Lukas and I up, "We'll leave you guys alone now."

-Astrid's POV-

I opened the door to my house and walked in happily, "Mama! I'm home!"

My mom turned from the stove in our little town house and gave me a hug, "How was school Honey?"

I smiled up at her, " Good. Whatcha cooking?"

"Banana bread want-" she started.

There was the sound of glass breaking at the other side of the house and we froze. I clung to my mom scared for my life, "Mama?" I whimpered.

"Stay here." She said as she ushered me into the pantry, "Be silent. I love you baby." She kissed me on the forehead before shutting and locking the door.

"But Mama..." I whimpered.

I stayed in the pantry, crying as I heard the agonizing screams of my mother and whoever was in my house.

-

I woke up screaming, Berwald and Tino's arms around me. Berwald was keeping me from thrashing and Tino was petting my hair and telling me that it was okay. I sobbed hysterically, calling out for my mama. When I had stopped thrashing, now only sobbing, I was in Tino's lap.

"Shh it's okay. You're with us now. Your mama is okay now, she's happy now, it's okay little one." Tino whispered to me as he rocked me back and forth.

I fumbled in my pockets for my music box ending up with nothing.

"What are you looking for sweetie?" Tino asked gently.

"M-Music box." I sobbed, "I-It's round and g-green."

Berwald handed my music box to me, "It must have fell out of your pocket."

I grasped it shakily and pulled my necklace out from under my sweater. It was a simple golden chain, a small golden key hanging from the end. I slowly wound it up and let my necklace fall to my chest. Quiet tinkling emitted from the sphere and I slowly began to calm down, only having small sniffles now. I clung to Tino's shirt until I fell back asleep.
