Chapter 9

What the hell was this Isaac dude talking about? I thought. It suddenly came to me that he said "Gus" I whisper.

"Gus! " The voice in my head shouts.

I cover my ears with my hands, squeeze my eyes shut and shout "SHUT UP! Don't shout in my head! Actually, better yet get out! I don't give a crap about this Gus guy! I need to know what happened to Tobias! So leave me alone!"

The boy- Isaac's eyebrows completely disappeared beneath his sunglasses. The woman, who I assume is Isaac's mom, because of their resemblance practically had her mouth hanging open.

They must really think I'm crazy, I thought.

I force a smile and start making my way out. However, that freaking annoying voice that is now living in my head says "Please," The voice begged. "I won't yell anymore, and I need to know what happened"

I was tempted by the voice, considering that I also need to know what happened. I felt the voice in my head relax, seeming to know that I'm starting to lose my resolve.

"Okay. What do you want?" I coincided to the voice.

"I need to talk to Isaac. He's a friend of mine. He might know what's going on, and I can trust him." The voice said.

I had forgoten about Isaac and his mom who were standing in front of me, and I glanced at them. They seemed lost.

" Okay." I breathed out, "What do you want?"

"Just follow my lead." The Voice answered. "On a side note, my name is not Voice. My name is Hazel."

"Okay- Hazel." I added as an after thought.

"Okay. So repeat everything I say."

I didn't really like being told what to do, but I had no choice here. So I answered Okay.

"Say, Sorry Mrs. Warner. Isaac, are you free today?"  Hazel said, and I repeated after her, to which Isaac answered that in fact he was, and asked if I was feeling better. We maintained small conversation, for awhile until Isaac asked if I wanted to come over, to which Hazel told me to say yes.

We were at Isaac's place when Hazel said, "Can you ask if we can call my parents? They must be-" She stopped when she felt the anger radiating off me.

"Umm, I'll be using the bathroom." I said out loud to Isaac, and his mom. His mom was making lunch, and Isaac and I were sitting at the counter. His house was nothing to what I was used to. It looked like an Abnegation house that was more extravagant, but looked nothing like the Dauntless headquarters.

"Sure. You know where the bathroom is." Mrs. Warner said.
