I opened my eyes slowly. Surprisingly I saw Karimah.
"You scared me". I sat up.
"Abii. You have been sleeping since. Can you kindly go and prepare dinner?" She asked.
"Sorry? I can't hear". I sat up.
"You heard me well".
"You want me to go into the kitchen and prepare dinner? Am I a cook?"
"Of course. You are the cook in this house*. She replied.
"I'll pretend I didn't hear". I came down.
"I'm your husband's elder sister. Give me that respect". She said.
"Hmm... If you are tired. You will go and cook".
"Please. You both should stop shouting". Fahad said.
"I'm not shouting. How can she ask me to cook?" I complained.
"Your wife is so I'll mannered".
"Hello". I waved at her face. "Why don't you go cook yourself?" I tried defending myself.
"Stop! Please. Okay". He sat up. "No one is cooking. We will place an order from a nearby eatery". He concluded.
"You are such a darling". I hugged Fahad.
I pulled out my tongue to bully karimah. She left angrily.
I looked at Fahad who is also staring.
"What?"
"Nothing. Karima is my elder sister. She is 3 years older than me".
"Where is this heading too?" I sat back.
"I know you don't like her. She dislikes you too. I want you two to leave peacefully".
"Story for the gods". I hissed.
"She got divorced 3 years ago because she didn't give birth after 7 years of marriage. She's been with mom. She is such an amazing person. You'll like her if you give her a chance to come close". He held my hands.
"If you weren't sick. I would have given you a tight slap. Are you crazy? I should give her a chance to come in...... She despises me". I tapped his cheek.
"You can slap me". He smiled.
"I'm not joking. I will. Don't ever talk to me about her". I warned.
"Okay okay". He laughed.
"I'm sure you are fine now".
"Yeah. I'm fine beside you".
I left the room.
My clothes and everything are still in the room.
A message came in.
'Hey. Need some refreshments?' Amor sent.
'Yeah please.' I replied.
'Meet me at the gate.' He sent it instantly.I quickly ran out of the house and to the gate.
"Hey!" I waved at amor.
"A packet of cigarettes and a bottle of alcohol". He passed them.
"You are a lifesaver". I collected it. "Thank you".
"I'll be on my way". He hugged me.
He entered his car.
I went back inside.
I screamed in fright as I saw Fahad standing in front of me.
"You scared me". I sighed in relief.
"Cigarettes. Alcohol. In my house". He folded his arms. I hid them behind me.
"No. No need to hide them. Give me". He snatched them. "This should be the last time I ever see this in my house".
"Your house. Your house. Stop bragging. You ain't the first to build one".
"At least I'm one of them". He laughed.
"Cause he owns 6bedrooms". I whispered.
He said nothing. I know he won't surrender.
"You see Fahad. You are holding my heart and soul right now. Please give them back". I stretched my hand opening the palm.
"No. I'll be throwing them outside and I don't want to see them in this house again". He walked away.
"You cannot do that. That alcohol is worth the price of one of the bedrooms in this house". I followed his back. He won't listen.
"Hey". I hit his back.
"What". He turned back. He dropped both the bottle and the pack on the floor and it broke. "What is your problem?" He grabbed my shoulders.
He has never been like this. My heart started beating.
"Don't push me to the wall". He warned.
I stared at his back.
Days later.
Fahad's pov
At Mr. Kilan's house.
We are all seated in the living room.
"Good day everyone". Sudais greeted as he came in. He sat beside me.
"Welcome my son". Mr. Kilan answered.
"Any improvement?" Sudais asked.
"Worsening day by day. She hates seeing my sight nor does she like My elder sister". I explained.
"Hmm... I feel so bad. I have done a lot of things but all in vain. I thought marriage will change her but no". Mr. Kilan said.
"Your daughter is crazy". Sudais said.
"Being kind and generous won't help. As a father, I shouldn't be saying this but you have to be strict with her. A little bit got". He said.
"No. Mr kilan. I can't do that".
"Mr man. You have no choice". Sudais said.
I closed my face.
"Have you guys gotten intimate?" Sudais asked.
"I don't want to force her". I said.
"You have to. Get her pregnant. If she is pregnant I'm sure she will lessen some things".
I laughed. "She hates babies". I said.
"She has always teased Amirah". Keep her busy with pregnancy.
"What you are saying is making sense. I'll do anything for love".
"Hmm. My son. Help us out". Mr. Kilan pleaded.
"Insha Allah. I'll try my best I assure you".
Home.
I entered the living room. I didn't want to say anything but it's annoying. How can my wife pass by me without saying hi?
I held her hands.
"What?" She asked.
"Not even a hi?"
"I didn't see you". She removed her hands from mine. "And even if I had seen you was I supposed to bow my head?"
"A good wife is supposed to greet her husband whenever he comes in".
"And a good husband is supposed to not care whether his wife greets him or not". She tried to leave when I pinned her to the wall.
"I'm being too tolerant and you are taking advantage of it". I said.
"Be a man. Behave like one. You should be bold enough to divorce me". She said.
I grabbed her jaw. "I love you so much and at the same time, I can't withstand this insult".
She closed her eyes in fright. I quickly released her. "I'm sorry". I pleaded.
She ran to the room. I stared at the horrible hands that grab that beautiful face.
