A/N Last chapter, i hope you had like it💚
"Oh Norns, come you must to the healing chamber-" began Sigyn, but Lauren shook her head.
"The baby is coming; you have to get Loki," she said, and tears began to form in her eyes. Lauren saw that she was about to protest again, but stopped her again. "Please."
Sigyn swallowed before nodding and hurrying back to the council chamber. Lauren leaned against the wall and moaned loudly as a contraction came, clutching her stomach. She began to shiver from the cold coming through the baby and sank to the floor.
Sigyn stormed past the guards into the council chamber; the men were still in discussion, but Loki looked right up and frowned. "What's wrong? Is something wrong with Lauren?" he asked anxiously, and the princess nodded.
"The baby is coming," she said briefly before running back to Lauren, Loki quickly followed her and saw Lauren sitting on the floor shivering and freezing. He sat down on the floor and touched her cheek; she looked at him weakly.
"L-Loki..." she stuttered, barely managing to keep her eyes open as another wave of pain moved through her body. Loki put as much magic as he could into her body to warm her before quickly lifting her up and turning to a guard.
"Fetch Eir," he ordered him before carrying her to his room and laying her on the bed.
"Take care of Ilvy," she said in a shaky voice; Loki sat down with her and took her hand in his. He shook his head, his vision blurred by the tears in his eyes.
"Tell me there is a way to delay the birth," he said as Eir came into the room; she looked at the situation and shook her head.
"Lady Lauren seems to be too far along already," she explained.
"No, you will survive this," he said sadly, smiling slightly.
Lauren raised her hand and caressed his cheek as she smiled sadly. "I love you," she said, and it sounded like a goodbye.
"No, you promised to be my wife," he said, shaking his head.
"You need to push," Eir said. Lauren cried out as a contraction came and pushed.
"There's nothing I'd rather have done," she said, breathing heavily. Loki closed his eyes and gave her every ounce of magic in his body as she continued to push. Finally, he heard a baby cry and looked up. He smiled weakly at Lauren, who was pale.
"You made it," he said softly and she smiled weakly, barely managing to keep her eyes open. Eir came and placed her daughter in Loki's arm as she looked sadly at the floor.
"You should take your leave, my king. Lady Lauren does not have much time left," she said sadly before walking away. He joined her on the bed and cradled her daughter in his arms; his arm was under hers for support.
"She's so beautiful," Lauren said weakly, noticing how her strength continued to fade. She looked to Loki and weakly reached for his cheek. "Take care of our daughter."
"Please, don't leave me," he pleaded with her in a shaky voice, "You are the light of my life."
"I will...I will always be with you, my love," she said weakly, closing her eyes with those words. Her body became lifeless and all her skin turned bluish. Loki looked at her and tears began to run down his cheeks.
"No...no...no. Open your eyes...please" he said and put his hand on her cheek. She was gone, he realized, forever. He hugged his little daughter to his chest, who understood nothing as he laid his head on Lauren's chest and let his tears run free. The light that always surrounded her had gone out.
---------------------------------------------
The months after her death, were probably the worst of his life, Loki thought, the only thing he lived for was his daughter. Loki barely had the strength to go to her funeral, but it would not be a fair memorial for her if he did not. He fulfilled her last wish and took care of her daughter, who became more like her mother every day. A constant reminder of what he had lost. But he knew Lauren would always be there. Loki renounced the throne, he knew that without Lauren he would fall into darkness if he continued to rule. Thor became king, as he always should, and Loki retired Ilvy and moved out of the palace to the outskirts of Asgard. He looked up into the sky and felt himself grow sad as he remembered Lauren.
"Daddy," the little girl said, joining him under the tree as she wrapped her arms around his neck, "Don't be sad."
"I just miss someone," he said softly, pushing back tears as he squeezed her tightly.
"Is it mom?" asked Ilvy, looking at him; Loki nodded and she lifted her small hands to wipe his tears from his eyes before hugging him again. "I miss her, too."
He was not a good man, but he would give anything to be a good father and in the end he realized that Lauren was never his property, she was his light; his salvation.
