The Secret Garden

Part 1 : The New Job

Cadence :
(sigh) It was a Saturday morning and me and my sister, Aurora are looking for a part-time job to earn some extra cash. Apparently, I texted her to meet me here at this local café at 7AM, but it's been 5 minutes and she hasn't show up yet. (groans)

Five minutes later...

Cadence :
Finally, Aurora is here.

Hey there sis, what took you so long? I've been waiting for you for like, 10 minutes.

Aurora :
(brushing her hair) Sorry sissy, it took me a long time to get ready. Plus, I missed the bus so I have to walk here. So now that I'm here, let's talk about business. Have you found any jobs for us?

Cadence :
(giving her the magazine) Sorry Aurora, but I checked the magazines, and they were no help-wanting articles anywhere.

Aurora :
(showing her a help-wanting poster from the magazine) What about this one? It says here that a famous actress named Madame Colette is hiring a gardener for her backyard, since her previous one moved to another state.

Cadence :
(looked at the poster) Sure, that's not a bad idea. We're good at being gardeners. I mean, after all we live with a vineyard outside our house, so how hard can it be? Let's go!!

So Aurora and I left the café and went to Madame Colette's house. To tell you guys the truth, I've never been to her house. In fact, I've never known Madame Colette herself either. I was so curious what she might look like.

45 minutes later...

Cadence :
Finally, we made it to Madame Colette's house. After I saw her house in first glance, I have to admit, she must be a very rich woman. It turns out, she lived in a huge white penthouse with a sapphire blue roof and shiny golden gates.

I knocked at the gates, but there was no answer.

(knock, knock) Hello? Is anybody home? My sister and I are here for a job application. We saw your poster saying that you're hiring gardeners, so we're here. Can you let us in, please? Hello?? (sigh)

Aurora :
(taps Cadence's shoulder) Guess nobody's home, sister. I guess she might be busy today. We'll try again tomorrow.

Cadence :
I agreed with her and as we were about to leave, we heard a woman's voice. It was Madame Colette.

Madame Colette :
(huff) Greetings, apologize for the wait young ladies. You must be the new gardeners I've hired. Come, we'll discuss about it in the living room. Follow me.

Cadence :
(squeal) I can't believe it!! We're finally gonna get the job!!

I took Aurora's hand tightly as we went into the woman's house. I was mesmerized about the inside of her house.

There was a crystal chandelier hanging above our heads, a fancy-looking fireplace, and really classy furniture. We sat down on a fancy red couch as we discuss the terms and conditions.

Madame Colette :
(handing out a contract) Here are the terms and conditions. You'll be working from morning 'till evening, which is from 8AM 'till 5PM so that makes, 10 hours with 30 minute breaks every 2 hours.

You'll also be earning 8 bucks per hour, which makes a total of 80 bucks for 1 day of work. You'll be able the get the paycheck by the end of the month.

So that's all you need to know, girls. Do we got ourselves a deal?

Cadence & Aurora :
(nod) Yes ma'am.

Madame Colette :
(smiles) Wonderful!! You're hired. Sign this contract and you'll be starting tomorrow morning. Be sure to wear your gardening clothes~

Cadence :
We signed the term, and after that Aurora and I said our goodbyes to Madame Colette as we went back home. That night we were so excited because we finally got to work, for a celebrity. I can't wait for tomorrow morning~
