My arms rested across a wooden table, Timeas working hard with small conversating between us. The sound of heavy footsteps came up to us a I saw Jean panting, obviously had just ran from somewhere. "Has anyone seen Albedo?" he said between gasps, grabbing the attention of some towns people. No, but Im seeing him later, Im delivering him some new pencils he requested for. I said readjusting my shoulder bag that contained the equipment. Theres been an avalanche, in dragonspine, no one has seen him, not even the survivors. Jeans eyes glassed over as I felt my heart drop and a silence fell, a few murmurs from distant people who had heard the news. I had just been having a normal day, and now Ive felt like my world has been flung upside-down.
Albedo was my best friend, this couldnt be true, I stayed silent as a million scenarios drowned my mind. I felt my feet began to move me forward as I blocked out everything from my head. Maeve where are you going? Jean asked pulling me back a little. Dragonspine. I stated, as her eyes widened. You cant its too dangerous! she said as I began to head for the exit of mondstadt. Jean, I dont have a choice! I love him. I whispered the last bit as tears began to build in my eyes and I ran past shoppers and travellers.
Kaeya stop her! Jean yelled as Kaeya had seen this unfold and ran for me to cut me off at the exit. I used my Anemo vision to push him out the way, giving me enough time to run.
My feet felt heavier each step I took, the wind making my tears worse as my vision was blurred. I felt my feet tangle in the long white flowy skirt of my dress I was wearing making myself trip as I hit the ground hard, my face scraping the ground. My weak arms pulled me up as I discarded of my bag, not caring about its contents. My breaths turned into weeps. As images filled my head, Albedos cold body, emotionless face, him on his stomach, lifeless. Dont think about it, just keep putting one foot in front of the other. He cant be dead!
I saw the edge of dragonspine, small camps have been made for survivors, medics treating the injured, and snow covering half the mountain. No sign of Albedo.
I ran past them all, my body slowing down as I tried to find the way to his office in the side of the mountain. I got to the entrance to find it covered completely in snow. My knees felt weak as I fell to the ground. Snow still falling as my hand muffled my cries.
A small yellow grow came from the snow, barely noticeable, but it gave me hope. I ran over to the heap of snow on the side of the mountain. Scraping my knees as I fell, shoving my hands in the snow trying desperately to dig. Tears streaming down my face, finding it hard to feel the nerves in my hand, but I didnt care. I wanted him to be alive. The snow began falling harder, as I yelled in hopes of anything.
I felt my hand find a pocket of air, my lips parting as I rushed to move the snow out the way. I could see a small outline of Albedos body. A yelp of happiness escaped my mouth. He had made a small structure using his geo vision to make a pocket, covering him as the snow fell above him. He didnt move, worry came over me. He was on his stomach and he looked rough. I managed to grip his shoulders. And pull him over my lap, his face looking up. His eyes were closed and his mouth agape. His hair all loose and messy. I felt his skin. He was freezing. I checked to see if he was breathing, I listened hard and heard the faintest sound of breaths escaping his mouth.
He was alive, but barely
I now had Albedo on my back, although he was taller and bigger than me, I used whatever strength I had to carry him, in hopes of reaching the small cabin I had near an area of trees in dragonspine. His arms hung limply over my shoulders as I held his legs behind me. the snow was really picking up now. as if the avalanche wasnt enough, a snowstorm had stared.
I felt Albedo shift on my back, and I received a grunt from him. Just hang in there Al, its not much further, please. I panted. Because of the structure he had made and the effect of the cold all around him for God knows how long. He was fatigued and extremely weak. I saw the wooden cabin in the distance. And wave of relief hit me as I pushed open the heavy door. The cabin was only two rooms, a large double bed in the middle a fireplace in front of it. A kitchen to the left and a small room with a bathroom.
