Rily
"What happened to the old house?" Ally asked me later that night while we lay in bed together. Her head was resting on my chest, her fingers playing with the hem of my shirt.
"Um, I changed it. It's going to be the reception building, for when people first arrive. Figured it was the best thing to do since it was all the way at the front of the property...and I didn't think you'd want to live there after everything," I explained softly.
"Can I see it?"
"Do you want to? I mean...if you're still uncomfortable, you don't have to. I won't be offended," I said seriously.
"I know that. I know you wouldn't ask somethin' like that of me. I feel like you'd be perfectly content if I never set foot in there again," she smiled when I nodded and continued, "but I have to push past these feelings. I don't want to feel like this forever."
"Would you like to go tomorrow? It's finished."
Ally nodded, "Yes."
I kissed the top of her head, holding her close to me. "Then that's what we'll do, honey. Let's get some rest...I love you."
She hummed, "Hmm, I love the sound of that...I love you too, Ry."
"You're cute...goodnight, Ally girl." I kissed the top of her head, and she hummed again, mumbling something. We were asleep in minutes.
I woke up to the sound of Ally shuffling around, talking on the phone to someone in the kitchen. My brain was too foggy to make out what she was talking about. I stretched, groaning at the satisfying pull of muscles, and finally tuned into the conversation.
"...you should see the house she built, Kate. It's beautiful, like beyond words beautiful, and told me she built it for us." I smiled, hearing her not-so-subtle excitement. There was a brief pause in the conversation, most likely due to Kate's response. I had just started to kick off the covers when Ally continued, "We're goin' to see the house this mornin', yeah, that one." I started to climb out of bed, intent on comforting her and was about to call out but the words died in my throat when she added softly, "I need this, Kate. I will not let him control anything about me...and I want to do this with her, to see her in that space healthy and whole..."
Ally's soft words melted something inside of my chest. I didn't think I could fall in love with this woman any more than I did now, and yet it was happening. I would do anything for her, and I don't know if I could live my life without her in it every day for the rest of our lives. Marriage was always a distant dream for me...but it was starting to feel like that dream was finally within reach.
I left the bedroom, wrapping my arms around Ally from behind and placing soft kisses on her neck. She gasped, pulling the phone away from her mouth. She hissed, "What are you doin'? I'm on the phone with Kate." She didn't pull away, instead, she leaned into my touch.
I reached out and grabbed the phone, putting it to my ear, and quickly speaking, "Kate, this is Rily. I'm goin' to hang up now...bye!" I think I heard her curse at me as the phone closed. I went back to kissing her neck, mumbling, "Now where were we..."
Ally spun around in my arms, laughing, "She's goin' to kill you for doing that. You know that, right?"
I kissed the tip of her nose. "I don't care. I want you all to myself right now...I need you." With that said, I slid my hands down, grabbed her ass, and picked her up. She let out this cute little squeak but immediately wrapped her legs around my waist. I set her on the kitchen table, pulling her bottom to the edge. She wore nothing but a long t-shirt, and when my fingers found her center, she was already drenched.
