*BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP*

'Loud' Bonnie thought as she heard the alarm scream from beside her head.

*BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP*

Up.

Bonnie rose from a pile of bed covers and smacks at her alarm clock lazily. "5am.." she whined, complaining quietly.

Sitting up from her bed, she looked around the small room: rays of sun pierced through the cracks in her shutters and luminated the room in a warm yellow glow. The birds sang elegantly from outside and she yawned quietly, stretching her body out with her eyes closed. After opening her eyes, she could see the reflection of herself in the mirror across from her bed at the back of her desk. Her purple fur reflected the rays and highlighted all the knots in it from how much she fidgeted in her sleep.

"Great.." she said sarcastically, knowing she'd have to spend ages sorting out her fluffy fur before getting ready.

She turned her body to the right and lifted her legs out from the bed and placed her foot accidently on the cool floor. She quickly lifted her foot up and searched for her slippers, finding them after a few prods at the air. "Gotcha!" she said playfully but with a semi-raspy voice from tiredness.

She looked over the pile of purple butterfly bedsheets at the uniform which was laid neatly the day before which was accompanied by her school supplies for the first day of school. 'Year 11' she thought to herself, holding back a tear 'I'll miss going to school.. at least I'm going back for 6th form..' (Separate education for the years Americans are in Junior and Senior years in high school) she quickly thought, trying to convince herself that everything would be the same forever.

With another yawn, she pushed herself up from the bed and walked clumsily to the stairs, looking at them momentarily. "Here we go!" she said in feigned excitement. Step-by-step she made her way down the stairs, looking at the shutters which need opening for the day. One by one, she opened them, allowing the light to 'enchant the room with the blessings of the day'.

Bonnie walked through the lounge and dining room, passing by photos of her family all enjoying themselves from back when she was a baby to just last year. She entered the kitche. The light reflected off the black marble counter tops as she flipped on the kettle to boil some water for a cup of coffee. She stood on her tippy toes and reached her paws into the top cupboard to pull out her favourite purple bunny mug. She added a drop of cool water, milk, sugar and coffee granules, letting all the ingredients mix together in the cool milk.

The kettle boiled furiously and clicked off automatically. She poured in the hot water and stirred the cup, watching the steam plume off the top and listening to the ceramic sing from the spoon hitting the side.

She put the spoon back and brought the coffee to her lips, sipping on the fresh, warm drink to start her day.

She carried the cup with her upstairs and closed the door behind her after she entered her room. She looked at the uniform excitedly and quickly stripped down and replaced her pyjamas with the school uniform which she had picked up a few weeks before from the school tailors. A blue button-up shirt, tights, a slim black pencil skirt, a black V neck jumper, black blazer and black shoes finished the look.

"Ready.." she stated to herself in a calm tone. She reminded herself of the first time she wore that uniform, how proud her mother was when she first saw it and the warm embraces she'd give to her daughter. She was excited for the new year but knew she'd have a lot to hide.

She picked up her watch and latched it around her thin wrist, sipping on her coffee again after doing so and started fixing her bed. The butterflies were no longer a conglomeration of morphed shapes but now a soft line through the middle of the sheets with different patterns and shades of purple butterflies. Next, she picked up the furry throw which had fell on the floor and folded it and put it along the bottom of the bed, allowing the vibrant blue material to contrast beautifully with the lilacs, lavenders and magentas of the bed.
