-Modern AU
It was another regular mission outside the walls just to make sure that nothing has breached and to gain another specimen for Hange. Although through this rather long mission they had lost their captain and commander on the way back. Erwin said that they were going to make another round to be sure that no one was still alive out there but now it was way past noon and the cadets were now sitting around wondering if the two had died.
Erwin's POV
Me and Levi sat in an old structure standing rather tall as we wait for the heavy rain to stop. I've never seen it rain this much, hell you could hardly see two inches in front of you.
This structure was like a round tower that had a balcony around the top with pillars holding a roof over the small ledge me and Levi sat on. He sat leaning up against one of the pillars looking out into the rain. Even though he had been above the ground for years he still most likely didn't understand the concept of rain or what it is. Well he knows it's water but where it comes from might confuse him.
I started walking over towards him on the ledge before sitting beside him. He glanced over to me before looking back out to the rain. He seemed amazed as he watched it fall heavily from the sky. Me and him just sat there for what seemed like hours just watching as the rain faded to a light drizzle although due to the sun still being up, there is a rather high chance that we could be eaten.
We also don't have our horses so just booking it to the walls was a stupid move. And just waiting for night was a lot better than having to travel through pools of blood, when it's dark you can just think of them as water puddles. Know that I think of this, Levi always walks looking down as if he fears that he will trip. But when he is walking though blood he's always looking up. Makes sense, it's rather hard to go through the blood of people you were slightly close with.
I get it though, it's kind of hard to basically stare at your blood covered boots. Levi's voice cut me out of my thoughts by saying that he was going to lay down. I simply nod as I watch him lay down facing away from me. He was slightly shivering when he laid on the hard, cold ground.
I took my green cape off and strung it over the still awake boy. Levi's eyes grew wide as he felt the cape be added but a few minutes pass and he pulls himself into a smaller ball and grabs fist fulls of the green cape.

~Third POV~
One or two hours later the sky had started to turn blue, purple, pink, and yellow. He really didn't want to do this but he had to wake Levi. Turning to face him, he lightly nudged his shoulder calling out his name. Levi being the light sleep he was almost immediately woke up.
He flipped over looking at Erwin handing him his cape before standing with a tiny yawned. He waved the other to follow before jumping down off the tower without a seconds thought.
Erwin, following behind Levi cursed under his breath when he went to check his gas tank, Levi feel back asking what's wrong. He was clearly still half asleep. Erwin explains that he's low on gas, most likely not going to make it.
After making it to a near by run down village. Levi decided to dump both our remaining gas together in one tank. Although due to this erwin would have to carry Levi to the walls or until they are close enough to the walls to where both can walk without having to be worried that the sun will come out before they make it inside the walls.
After saying this to Levi he seemed a bit embarrassed at what was going to happen. But all and all he wrapped his arms around my shoulders when I had the gear back on. Erwin pulled him up to his chest and started for the walls. An hour or so later he was down half a tank and had around 30 minutes left until they reached the walls.
He informed Levi about this but didn't even get a head nod or hum back. Due to this he looked down to see his captain fast asleep and still had a death grip on him. It amazed him at how tense he was in his sleep. Erwin pulled some of the straps around Levi's small body loose and started to lightly rub up and down on his thighs.
A minute or so later and Levi damn near fell because of him losing his grip. He finally slipped completely under. Erwin moved his hand to Levi's back slowly patting and rubbing around his spine. Every now and then he would hear a small pop we he'd just barely touched him. Almost everytime Levi's back would pop, he would let out a small grunt or pant heavily for just a second.
Once they got to the walls Erwin saw how no one was guarding this part of the wall. Due to this Erwin sat, criss cross with Levi on his lap. He sat there for quite a while, ever so often he'd look to the side to make sure no one was watching or coming over to guard the walls.
Although after around 30 minutes Erwin decided Levi has slept long enough and so lightly started to shake the smaller male. He easily woke, whilst he was still half asleep he finally realized where he was sitting. He almost immediately jumped up front erwin's lap, falling to the ground.
Before he hit the ground, Erwin grabbed his arm pulling him back up as he stood. The two men started to walk towards the supply boxes, grabbing a can of gas and filling Levi's gear enough to get down off the walls.
Once Erwin and Levi get back to the scouts they both got an ear full of hanjis worry.
