Backstory - Eliza was born April 2nd , 1883 to 27 year old Nikola Tesla and his 19 year old wife Amelia who was the daughter of a top Edison engineer . Sadly Amelia died during Childbirth leaving her husband to juggle being an inventor and a single father . Eliza's grandfather took over raising her since he didn't think Nikola was fit to be a parent and thought his actions would get his granddaughter killed . Eliza didn't see her dad for almost 14 years until her grandfather died and left everything to her . Eliza first met Jack when he got her purse back from a snatch and grab . Soon the two grew close and Eliza often bought the paper for double to help the newsies and would bring them hot food and drinks in cold months . At 16 years old , she stays in New York to help her friends with the strike with her father's full support .
