Backstory : Sasha was born to a single mother from Russia in a small town on the Oregon coast . She was bullied mostly for her accent and her mother's career . So the mother and daughter moved to Staten Island , at 9 years old Sasha was bitten by a brown reclus spider that had escaped from a secret government lab . At first she hide her abilities from her mother , until she found out and encouraged her daughter to not be afraid of her own gift .Sasha soon embraced the powers she gained from the bite and started calling herself the red spider and protected New York of her world . At 13 years old, she was given a spot in the spider society where she met others like herself .
