Tuesday morning, on the bus, I was there sitting next to Valerie. We both knew what was going to happen. Starbucks. At 5:30. After school. It was simple. Simple enough to know that neither one of us wanted to talk about it until we were out of school. Gossip spreads like a wildfire at my school. Nobody has any secrets from anybody no matter how personal or how fake.
Valerie and I were about to head into art class when somebody blocked our way. Georgia and Cheryl. The meanest bullies in the world. In MY book, The-Bully-Sisters-That-Don't-Rule-The-School-Even-Though-They-Think-They-Do.
The blonde twins closed in on us. Valerie, the brave girl she is stood up and told Georgia and Cheryl something that, once again, pierced my ears. "Hey, Georgia. Cheryl. Wanna get some coffee later? Maybe some croissants? Oooh, maybe even some hot-chocolate!" I looked at her. Anger and curiosity in my eyes. Georgia and Cheryl too, had the same expression. Anger and curiosity. Lots of it. Why would she say such a thing? The twins considered the offer and stalked off. As we turned the last corner before the art room Mrs. Frost stormed in front of us shouting, "Why are you girls late for class? I thought art was your favorite! I'm very disappointed in you two! Detention for both!" Valerie and I sighed and slowly sauntered walked into class.
