Backstory: She and her twin sister, Kiyomi, were raised in the red light district as courtesans. Their mother (that they loved very much) had passed away due to illness when she was young, and their abusive aunt took them in. They ran away and Hayami dyed her hair to avoid being taken in again, as colored hair would make her seem unfit as a courtesan. They were found on the streets by Sanemi Shinazugawa and he introduced them to Kagaya Ubuyashiki. Sanemi also trained them but Hayami made her own breathing style and Kiyomi continued with wind breathing. Hayami made her way to Hashira but Kiyomi stayed in Mizunoto (the lowest rank).

Edit: I forgot to mention something. On the paper above it says Hayami's 19 but she's 19 in the current anime timeline. In this story, she's 15. Same with Kiyomi.
