Chapter 6: Jealousy

Kanae POV:
The meeting just ended and I'm heading back to my estate.

"Né-San!"

Shinobu is running towards me frantically.

"Ara Ara~ What's wrong Shinobu-Chan?"

"Fuji-San went on a mission after you left and she came back with major injuries. A kakushi had to carry her back!"

I began to run toward the estate and Shinobu-Chan lead the way. Shinobu-Chan ran to room 6. Hayami-Chan is laying on the bed, unconscious. Hayami-Chan is one of the strongest Hashira, what demon could she have fought to put her in this situation?

"Shinobu-Chan, what are her injuries?"

"She has a broken arm as well as a fractured ankle. She seemed to have hit her head and she fainted so she might have a small concussion. She also has multiple deep cuts all over her."

"What!? What demon did she fight?"

"Upper Rank 2."

My eyes widen and I freeze up in shock.

"K-Kanae?"

I shoot my head over to Hayami-Chan and her eyes are slightly open.

"Hayami-Chan! Don't move I'll get you some water!"

She weakly nods her head and closes her eyes as she leans back. I run over to the kitchen to get a cup of water.

"Kanae-Sama?"

I look toward the voice and see Aoi-Chan.

"Oh, hello, Aoi-Chan! I have to go bring some water to Hayami-Chan so I'll help you with lunch in a minute."

She nods and continues taking the laundry to wash. I run back to room 6 and see Shinazugawa-Kun sitting next to Hayami-Chan.

"Here, Hayami-Chan. Try not to move too much."

Hayami-Chan leans her head back and I carefully help her drink it. I just realized that Shinazugawa-Kun was holding Hayami-Chan's hand. I tried to brush it off but it bothered me for some reason.

"Hayami-Chan, you should get some rest now."

Shinazugawa-Kun nods as to agree to take his leave. He pats Hayami-Chan's head and walks out. I don't know why, but that small action made me feel jealous. I decide to walk Shinazugawa-Kun to the entrance.

"Shinazugawa-Kun, why exactly are you here?"

"I had heard that Hayami had gone on a mission while we were gone so I took the time to come check on her."

I nod as we get to the entrance and he walks back to his estate. I run back to my room and immediately jump on my bed to start crying. I didn't know why but I felt as if I'd just been crushed by a mountain. The scene kept replaying in my head. I had to just admit that I'm jealous. I'm not sure why I'm jealous but, sometimes we can't explain our feelings.

Knock Knock

Suddenly, I'm burst out of my thoughts as I hear a knock on my bedroom door.

"Kanae-Sama, I made lunch. You never came to join me so I made it myself."

I wipe my tears as I realize it's Aoi-Chan. I open the door and look down at Aoi-Chan.

"Ara Ara~ Sorry, Aoi-Chan! I meant to come help you but I got caught up with something."

"It's okay, Kanae-Sama. I don't mind making the meals by myself."

I smile at her and we both begin walking to the dining room.

"I'll help you with dinner as an apology!"

"Oh, no Kanae-Sama. It's fine, really. I'm fine with doing it myself! You have work to do!"

"Aoi-Chan, I insist!"

She sighs and just nods in defeat. We reach the dining room and I realize that Kanao-Chan isn't there.

"Where's Kanao-Chan?"

"Shinobu-Sama took her to see Himejima-Sama."

"Why is that?"

"I'm not sure, Shinobu-Sama wouldn't tell me why."

"We can bring the food to Gyomei-San's estate!"

Aoi-Chan nods and we both pack everything in little boxes for everyone to eat.

We reach Gyomei-San's estate and we eat lunch as usual. Apparently, Kanao-Chan had told Shinobu-Chan that she was unhappy in her current position, and wanted to become a demon slayer. So, Shinobu-Chan came to ask Gyomei to help us train her. He agreed to start training her, next month. As we walked out of Gyomei-San's estate, I saw Shinazugawa-Kun talking to Kiyomi-Chan, Hayami-Chan's twin sister. He was very red and seemed to be blushing. I just guessed that it had something to do with Hayami-Chan but, the only reason he would speak to Kiyomi-Chan would be- I froze as I realized he most likely wanted to ask if he could be Hayami-Chan's boyfriend.
