Chapter 2: Wanna Play?

When Mery and Riley finally got to the store and walked inside the store a few people were staring at Riley but when Mery got in they stopped staring going back to what they were doing which surprised Riley. Mery grabbed a cart and started walking around the store with a soft smile, Riley following close behind her. Mery grabbed some sewing supplies, some thin wires, wipes, cleaning supplies, and some door hinges. Riley was confused why Mery grabbed the wires but she shook it off, Mery then saw some ropes and had a idea but she was going to keep that idea to herself. Mery grabbed a long rope with a smile before going to the cashier with the soft smile not leaving her face. The cashier smiled as he saw Mery, and happily started scanning the stuff she got.

Cashier: up late again Mery?

Mery: hehe hello to you too Danny, what can I say I'm a night owl ( she said with a smile )

The cashier known as Danny then showed uneasiness when he noticed Riley.

Danny: so who's your friend? And what's with the creepy costume?

Mery raised a brow before realizing that Riley was still wearing her blood stained clothes.

Mery: oh, She's just a really big fan of Halloween hehe, she's one of my new roommates. ( She lied smoothly with a soft smile )

Danny: roommates? Well then your gonna love Mery then, ain't nobody else who has a personality to give everyone a smile and set them at ease like Mer ( he said with a smile with all the uneasiness he felt towards Riley disappear in a second )

Once Danny finished scanning the stuff Mery got, Mery knew the price already and unzipped one of the small pockets of the backpack, she then pulled out a hundred dollar bill and gave it to Danny with a soft smile.

Mery: keep the change, I know that you and your mother are going through rough times right now with your brother gone missing I hope he'll be found some ( she said with a seemingly sad smile)

Danny gave Mery a sad smile back as Mery picked up the plastic bags of stuff with little struggle.

Danny: thanks Mery it means a lot and you two be careful, we don't need a angel like Mery or anyone close to her disappearing too ( he said with a concern expression )

Mery: don't worry Danny, I'm tougher than I look ( she said with a soft smile )

Mery and Riley then walked out of the store, Mery then stopped by the side of the sidewalk next to the store and gently placed the bags down before she took off the backpack and somehow managed to fit all of the plastic bags in the backpack with ease.

Riley: so what was all that about? ( She asked Mery )

Mery: oh, I kinda have a rep for being the town's " angel ", if only they knew ( she said quietly so no one except Riley could hear her )

Riley: and that guys brother?

Mery looked at Riley with a soft smile as she zipped the backpack close and put it on, Riley saw there was a hint of twisted pride in Mery's eyes.
