1. an introduction

Two weeks ago I had been moved from one store location, the original being walking distance easily from my apartment, to a busier part of town. With the change in location came a possible pay raise and promotion. The raise wasn't much but it was nice considering the alternative was to lose my job if I had refused the relocation. It wasn't that the store was too far, it just wasn't ideal. I've found that life is like that sometimes, and I've learned to accept those minor inconveniences.

Since I had adjusted to the new store I had decided to up my hours, I could use the money anyway. I was looking to buy a new camera and they were anything but affordable. Today would be the first day with my new schedule. That means I need to get off my ass and get ready for work an hour earlier than usual, as in right now.

I saved and closed my half a million files and spun around in my shitty office chair stretching, my neck made a loud unsavory crack and I heard an "ouch" from my doorway. My roommate, Kim Min-ji, was apparently waiting for my attention. How long she had been there I had no clue.

"Yeah. Happens to the best of us what's up?" I stood up and continued my stretching going to grab a brush. I turned to face her as I forcefully removed the hair-tye from the knotted mess that was yesterday's ponytail.

"I was gonna ask if you would walk with me to this restaurant near your work. My food is supposed to be ready in.." she paused to look at her watch tapping at it a few times. "..like 40 minutes?" She looked to me and blinked at me doing ridiculous cute poses and sound effects.

"Alright, ok! Quit doing that I swear you're gonna knock me over with the wind from your eyelashes!" I shooed her out and she laugh shouting a "thank you!" Through my now closed door.

I started getting ready for my long shift, not that I was trying to look exceptionally high class or pristine it's nothing fancy anyhow. I pulled my hair back into a ponytail that was sure to give me a headache later.

As I was pulling on my jacket I heard Minji shouting again "Can I borrow your shoes?? The cute ones with the pink laces?" I swung open my door to see her holding them up in the air, again trying to aegyo her way into getting what she wants.

I laughed a little at her display, "why do you need my 'cute' shoes to go pick up food Minnie?" I eyed her as I walked over and put on my new work shoes, another reason I was picking up more hours.

She blushed a little and smacked at the air next to me, "The same reason I've been ordering UNGODLY amounts of chicken all month. HAVE YOU SEEN THE GUY THAT WORKS THERE?!"

She threw her hands up and continued her rant about his 'beautiful hair' and 'ass that just won't quit' finishing off with a "My GOD sujin hes just-so-UGH I wanna stuff him in my to-go bag good LORD!!" I laughed at her enthusiasm over a man I'm sure has only said four words to her this whole month.

"Wear whatever you want what's mine is yours but we gotta get going. I do actually have to go to work after your sexy chicken run." She thanked me and put on the shoes quickly, both of us grabbed our keys and wallets and left making sure the door locked behind us.

Minji fixed her hair for the 1000th time and turned to me, "do I look ok? Is my hair ok? My face is oily isn't it oh I can't go in like this my life will be ov-" I stopped in front of the chicken restaurant and stuck my foot out, she stumbled over it. "Hey I could have died Sujin do you want me to- oh heyyy" she laughed seeing our destination in front of her, apparently had been paying no attention whatsoever to where we were.

She was definitely into this guy, as fun and all over the place as Minji usually was she did tend to at least have her head on straight most days.

"Don't you dare come in here with me! You're too hot he'll fall for you instantly!" She laughed, her laugh was contagious and I continued to laugh slightly as I spun her around "you look GREAT wearing my shoes so go put them babies to use and go get that chicken boy girl!" I lightly pushed her to the door and she waved at me as she went inside.

A few minutes later Minji trudged back out of the restaurant, her shoulders slumped and her feet dragging as she walks. "Oh lord what happened does mr. Ass that won't quit have a mrs. Ass that won't quit?" I held out my arms and she flopped into them. Suddenly the atmosphere changed and she had slung her arms around me jumping up and down.

"HA! THERE MIGHT BEEE! Oh my God su-jinnie I think your shoes are MAGIC he asked for my number!! BEST DAY EVER AHHH" she continued her celebration and switched from jumping and shaking me to locking our arms, I guess she remembered I had a job to get to.

As we neared the store Minji stopped and looked around, "the sunset is sooo pretty this really is a great day! Omg take my picture pleaseeee" she held out her phone and bag of chicken I took both and opened up her camera.

"Since the sun is setting you should take a cab or bus home Minnie." I snapped a couple pictures and let her switch poses, we both won the roommate lottery, a photographer and the most photogenic girl you'll ever meet.

She stopped her posing and held out her hands "alright thank youuu! Have fun at workkk." She smiled taking her things and looking for the nearest bus stop.

"I won'ttttt" I responded in the same sing-song tone, waving goodbye to her and heading inside, I had a couple of minutes before my shift started but headed to the office anyway.
