"Chan, I have a dance performance on your birthday," Minho frowned as he approached his friend after school so they could ride the bus home together.

"It's okay, I'll still be there."

"That's not why I'm sad about it," Minho explained, "I'm sad because I can't go to your 10th birthday."

"Well, I'll be at your dance performance so you don't have to be sad about anything," Chan reassured with a smile as he grabbed hold of Minho's hand so that they could sit next to each other on the bus.

"But- weren't you gonna invite people over for your birthday?"

"I'd rather spend it with you." He explained as Minho felt his face heat up. He tried to ignore it and focus on the issue at hand, he didn't want Chan to waste his time on his birthday watching him dance when he could be doing much better things.

"I'd rather you spend it with your other friends," Minho replied, "maybe we could celebrate it the next day with each other."

"Last time I didn't go to one of your performances you cried."

"Yeah but- that was when I was 10."

"Minho, you're only 11," Chan laughed as he ruffled his hair.

"I'm much more mature now."

"What if I go to your dance performance and we celebrate with our friends the next day."

"Are you sure?"

"Mhm, my soulmate is priority," Chan explained, earning the smile from Minho that he was already in love with.
