Chapter three:
(Junes POV):
The night was coming to an end. I was ready to head straight back to my room and practically dissolve into my bed. Everyone started leaving and I picked up Jer, he'd fallen asleep and it didn't look like either of his parents had noticed. As I was picking him up I accidentally slipped my phone off the table. Rolling my eyes at my lack of attention to detail I bent down to pick it up.
"I'll get that for you" I heard his voice sound from behind me.
" You get the kid, I'll get your phone"
I didn't know what to say. This was by far the most he'd ever spoken to me, and now he was being nice..?
I hauled Jeremiah into my arms and saw him reach down to grab it.
You see, there are multiple reasons why I dislike Rome.
He's an arrogant ass that knows how good he looks and fully uses it to his advantage. He's a player and doesn't care about anyone's feelings. Every time I see him, he gives me some condescending stare and makes me uncomfortable. He never looks like he wants to be here. I mean neither do I but at least I put on a fake smile and pretend like I wouldn't rather be elsewhere. He just sits there. HE'S BLATANTLY RUDE. I've heard some rumours about him, I don't want to judge him for them, but if they're true, then I'm repulsed by him even more.
And now, here he was. Acknowledging my presence and even helping me. He stood back up and handed me the phone.
Thats when I remembered another reason for hating him. His eyes. They weren't light blue, no. They were a dark blue, like a middle of the ocean blue. Full of mystery and charm. He had grey lines transcending through from his pupil to his iris. They were beautiful, like a shower of diamonds in the night sky. I hated him mostly for reasons to do with him, all apart from one last point which proved my selfishness. I needed to protect myself from him otherwise I would get attached, otherwise I would lose myself and get hurt.
I snapped out of my trance and looked down once more. I took my phone and murmured a thank you whilst shoving it in the back pocket of my jeans. Walking on with Jer in my arms, I tried to get the image of his eyes out of my mind, I tried to focus on something else, anything else.
I caught sight of Riah and Joe and decided to walk over to them.
" Whats the plan for tonight? Do I need to cover for you?"
Riah looked down at me and smiled genuinely.
" Yeah please June, I'd appreciate it"
I got along with few people in this family, and although at times Riah annoyed me, deep down we had a good relationship.
" Okay, I'll see you tomorrow then" I said waving back to Joe at the same time.
"Hey June!" I heard Riah call out.
I spun around waiting for him to speak.
"Thank you" He mouthed.
I smiled back and walked over to the car, gently buckling up Jer as to not wake him. Sighing I looked over to Aurora and Elijah. I still needed my ride home. Elijah walked over to me, with a sorry look on his face.
" So uh look kiddo.." He coughed out, he seemed embarassed.
" Heres the deal, me and your aunt are gonna go for drinks with the Kanes and the Augusts, we're gonna meet them at some bar further up in High Street Ken."
" But what about me? What about Jeremiah?" I protested in disbelief.
" Uh- well, Jeremiah's gonna go with the August's babysitter along with Athena. She's gonna take them back to their house."
